Will this kill my gas

My GAS comes from ideas, things I need to complete a crazy scheme, sound, setup etc so if I have something that is user friendly and sounds great with millions of possibilities then I'm happy.

Just look at the big board ;) it was my attempt to make something that did everything but I found I was only using 4-5 fx at a time tops, wasn't using both sides of the board at the same time (so 2 scenes setup in the M13 would simulate the board for multitrack recording)

That's pretty much it.

Then this should be great. All my crazy ideas come from parallel paths, though. Would that mean I'd need two to kill my GAS????:D

Your suggestion earlier about the 4 octoverbs (which two would definitely be awesome and 4 would be either awesome or scary; maybe both) got me thinking about a lot of different applications of the same pedals and now I'm GASsing for this again a little bit. It would be a fantastic tool for hashing out noise ideas and figuring out what might work and what wont work. Upon further reflection I think it will ease your GAS until it solidifies your GAS. :)

I'm interested in people's opinion on the Pod X3 Live, I like the idea of parallel processing but I don't know how keen I am on having amps and things on the floor (Cus dats wer ma fx goeser).

I assume you can't change the order of fx on the X3 like you can on the M13?

I have the X3 rack version. (was using it as multi-effects and preamp into power amp, but is going out of rotation. In favor of a Gallien krueger and back to an (analog) pedalboard)

Pros IMO:
parallel processing is great: crazy stuff like Sub Dub as one tone and a lo-fi mic preamp + trebly comp + tiled room reverb as the other tone.
Lots of fun textures you can create.

You can't really change the order of the effects. It's "stomp" (drive pedals, octavers and compressors) --> "modulation" --> "delay" --> "reverb".
Actually you can move things a bit with the pre/post choice for modulation, delay and reverb. Before or after the virtual amp model.
This limited order of effect chain doesn't bother me, what's a downside is you can't have two effects of the same category at the same time.
For example: octave down + overdrive is not possible, digital delay + analog delay is not possible.


The X3 is a great quality unit, and if you don't shun digital it's quite a useful tool for recording.
But for me: at the end of the day it's just a toy.
In a band setting I like it more simple.

Let me think about it.
I haven't put it up for sale yet.

I was thinking maybe keeping it around for recording purposes.
But I have other stuff that can do the job just fine for recording. (Like micing my rig, XLR out on my incoming GK1001RB or a Big John Hairy Balls with boost funtion directly into recorder for gritty SVT like tone.)

I lend it for a while to my guitarist, you know how fond guitarists are of combining multiple rigs (virtual) Marshall, Mesa Boogie and Fender.
But my guitarist come to the same conclusion as I. He want his gear to be more simple, just one real fullstack, one distortion, one chorus, one reverb.



Let me think about what I would want for it if I'll sell it and then shoot you a PM.

Yeah it's probably too expensive for ym wants at the moment, I didn't really have any intention on using the Pod for fx just amp sims, maybe I should stick with the XT Pro.

Getting the M13 is proving harder than I expected apparently some people just don't want my money.

Have you thought of the Line 6 Toneport GX2? (Now replaced with POD farm I think.)

Has only 5 amp sims, goes directly into computer.
I have one of those as well.

Damn, just realized I have to much stuff laying around that I don't use. :D

To be quite frank, IME and IMO, Line 6 digital modelling of amps is fairly good. But if you are going to use many effects the nuance of amp modelling behind it is lost.


I'm actually going into the opposite direction you want to go. Several small units for recording and home practice instead of a Line 6 unit.

Big John Hairy Balls in boost mode for clean preamp to a bit of Gallien Krueger like growl. (Also, it's a damn good fuzz pedal).
+ an EBS Multicomp to warm up a clean signal + some sort of equalizer.
Hartke Kickback 10" combo for practice and recording monitor.
All going into BOSS BR-900. (I don't like computer recording :))

My reasons are, my band stuff is set in stone it's not going to change the pedal board has been pretty much the same for 2 years (Only ever move stuff and tidy it up)

But for all the other stuff I do and want to do, covers, jamming at home, solo playing with loopers, experimental dnb, noise etc etc I just keep buying and selling stuff and even when I had my huge board with all the parallel processing it didn't do everything I wanted such as beat sync and tap tempo fx.

Most of the time I used the parallel aspect to have a clean blend because no matter what I did I couldn't tweak and play.

The M13 would solve alot of this I'd have 2 expr pedals, I could use midi controllers at waist height it has a fantastic looper so I see it covering my experimental sounds.

It's got enough fx that I would stop buying cheap ones to tide me over such as chorus and flanger that I only use once in a while as they soon add up in cost.

I can even set it up to do like a clean blend and control it to a degree.

The Bass pod has come about from my home practice setup, I run a Summit Td-100 into a Behringer mixer (obviously here I'm losing all that TD-100 goodness) so that I can hook it up with my mp3 player. For recording I'm doing the TD-100 into a firewire 410.

I just saw the bass pod as a way to get rid of these 3 items, plus rack tuner I have and have an all in one that did more. It would also maximise the M13 a bit more with the i/o, fx loops and the fact the pod can run comps saving a bank on the m13

If all the theory behind this sounds sound :D then let me know, or if I'm crazy also let me know. I was eventually hoping to then have all this as IEM setup.

But on top of this I'll still be keeping the following fx

2 x CPD
2 x Boomstick Bottom Feeder
2 x Bass Fuzzsaw
2 x Noisebox
Prometheus
Echobox
Strobo Stomp
Hellbaby
Serrano

and I'll still have 4 tube amps ranging from 17w to 500w

G.A.S. is similar to malaria. Once hit with it, its there for life even tho treatments as needed keep keep major episodes at bay and then they become farther and farther apart if you're lucky. But.....its always lurking. I know---I have both.
