I got this new Stewmac razor file. It works well, but it's really sharp. I set this aside because I don't want to razor file my fingers by accident and mess up my chances at the audition tonight. I'll continue this tomorrow.

Is that "razor file'' drastically different from the so called "dragon rasps" that they sell... like as far as quickness of stock removal?
I need to get a half round ... but I'm only gonna buy one for now. Trying to decide between the two.

I need to get a half round ... but I'm only gonna buy one for now. Trying to decide between the two.

I don't have any of their dragon rasp files, but compared to the rasp files I do have, these razor files seem to be as aggressive in removing material, but leave a much less ragged surface. The one complaint I had with my existing rasps is the amount of work it takes to get the surface smooth after filing (rasping?). The razor file would seem to be helpful in that area.

I'll add that the half round, unlike the flat version, is only cut on one side. The back side of the half round is smooth - concave in fact.

Did a little more shaping on the neck, the volute, and the heel. Still plugging away, hoping to finish this on time.

I'll add that the half round, unlike the flat version, is only cut on one side. The back side of the half round is smooth - concave in fact.

Oh-Ho! I think I know what tool they are reselling, then, but it's a long time since I bought mine so I don't recall who I bought it from or what it was branded as, other than it sure wasn't stew-mac.

Neck profile pretty much done, sanded to 80 grit

It's sanded to 80 grit. I'll go to 120, then maybe 220, rough shape the rest of the headstock, and then I'll be ready to glue up the wings. I may actually get this done on time.
