Winter Build Off 2022 - Get Ready

I've been drawing and erasing and re-drawing a couple specific details on my design for about a month. I've gone through 4 pencils worth of erasers. This is, by a long shot, the most time I've ever spent revising a design. Last night it just clicked though, and I'm going with it!

Speaking of roasting, got the shop heater fixed. Unfortunately I do t have a wood shop, so crusty old automotive bench it is!

I see a perfect spot for a 3x8 guitar/wood working bench on wheels.

I have a car problem, so probably have to use the bench. I do have a clean sheet for the bench for bass projects.
Doing the finish will have to be inside the house. Otherwise Sasquatch hairs get in the poly

I can just imagine the arguments on whether it's better to use peanut/soy, straight peanut or "I just use the peanut/vegetable from sam's club and never had an issue".

Rose oil will turn basswood into rosewood.
But you need a commercial pressure fryer like they use at KFC.

Sounds about right

I would slice that piece off the log, thick enough for a top and leave the top surface rough like that. I would seal it with a top coat, but not fill it in.

I have some extra maple, but it's really spongy.

I had the moment the other day that I needed to build one of those racks. Maybe that 's a good lead in to doing other wood work projects

At the moment I don't even have room for those stands and racks. But in the next few months a room should become available, which will be my workplace and music room.

Thanks! It is the original boring white pickguard, with some decorative plastic from a home improvement store on it.

I used to have both wall hooks and a 6-space rack, but then SOMEONE* decided we needed a drum kit in the house, so I had to ditch the rack. The instruments that were on the rack are now in storage, which makes me a little sad.
