No, but my alarm clock (which will go off four hours later) does.Well, the build off rules don't require you to be asleep…..![]()
To make your own hardware?$20 for a 12" piece of 1/4" x 1/2" brass.
Affirmative. I want to try making a nut out of both and see which sounds/works better and see which is easier to work with the tools I have.To make your own hardware?
I love 360 brass for nuts. It cuts like butter - easy as bone. Doesn't load up files like sticky aluminum.
The WBO bass won't have much hardware. The tuners and saddles will be black and the string anchors will be aluminum. I figured I'd try to match them with an alum nut. I got 6061 on Bruce's recommendation, as it's a little harder and less gummy than the stuff from box stores. He uses that stuff like hot sauce. If I have a hard time making it work, I have the brass. But I really want an alum nut on this one. It's a whole purse match the shoes thing.I snagged some brass bar stock in 1/8" and 3/16" thickness to try brass nuts from scratch.
And aluminum TOTALLY clogs up a file. I've used it in the past, works okay, but is very cloggy.
I told my boss I had to stay home to take care of all of that. Even though he seemed mad, he was in full support and gave me the rest of the year off to work on the build. Sounds like I can have all of next year also, because he said dont bother coming back in after News Year.Today is a good day for shop cleanup, tool organization, template and jig making, material and supply inventories and last minute total changes in the work plan.![]()
Woo! I'm in!Cool! Now you can do the Summer Build off too.
