Seeing how it's checking across the grain, it's nearly impossible to make it disappear visually (unless you paint).
I agree with getting some thin CA in there to form a bond. The sooner you get a finish on there and seal it up to stop moisture moving in and out (mostly out), the better.

Yes I had CA glue. I just did a light line on each, added a little walnut dust. Let it dry. And did that again.

Now comes going around the basses end grain again and sanding to the grain curves. That won't take long....

I also did the hand rasp work for on the arm "ramp" and the belly curve.

This is presumably close to the end of the harvested/air-dried original board? Certainly looks like standard end checking during drying, and if you don't have enough board length to cut that off you just have to deal with it (which you've already done.) Can be reduced (but usually not eliminated) by painting/waxing/(some folks dip in white glue, I guess?) the ends of the green boards before sticker and stacking, but if you don't act very fast tiny ones start before you get to that step.

I figured most of that. This also is one of the trees I took down and milled. I put some CA glue on them and moving forward.

Getting ready for wipe on polyurethane.

Here is a update. Sorry for the lack of posts. I had a freelance 3d job that took up some time away from the bass.
I did get a Jazz set of MEC stacked pickups out of a Warwick Thumb bass. So I made some new pickup cover out of this purple cedar I have more than enough of .

I got some work in on it today. The neck as been under tension for about a week held straight.
Today was the fiddly work on the Nut. I made my own out of curly maple. There's a shim under it at the moment. I'll be clean that up all tonight.

I wired it up correctly. Nothing no sound. Active MEC jazz set. Do I need a preamp?
