I think my most used tools of all are my Shinto, a couple of rasps, a couple scrapers and two small planes and one long one.
90% of my tool use probably weighs less than an average bass.
Maybe I should get an old instrument case and make it into my lutherie tool box.
That would be kind of nerdy.

We’re now at the “Warwick baseball bat” phase of the carve. Next step is get to the “MTD assymetrical” phase!

After a very busy few weeks, it looks like I’ll finally have some time this weekend to get this project back underway. All in the hopes of finishing at least two months after the end of the build-off!!

Some basic layout work ahead of a weekend of finishing up the neck carve and routing electronics and pickups.

If we ever have a build-off with the theme “Luthierie in Six Minute Increments Every Four Days” I might actually have a shot at winning!

Pickups are laid out based upon the measurements of the other twin.

The neck is carved from the rough shape into a final profile using my state-of-the-art shaping jig.

A few checks using my contour gauge along the way. Here I’ve got a nice asymmetrical “C” and now I just need to do some final shaping and sanding.

Pickup spacing and other key measurements are taken using Twin #1 to get an exact match.

This is the first time in all my builds where I’m not challenging myself to do something new and different - instead, I’m challenging myself to build an exact duplicate of the last one!
