I did put a Jbass. Didn't work for me.
If you recall, I did Walter Ardie for the build off last year. That was a combo of an RD tail fin, Tele single cut upper, and a Strat lower horn
Didn't realize Walter was such a mashup -- I took it as a slightly altered RD. I'll post a picture tonight of what came to mind.

These are $5 each locally, or 10 for $8 online. I played around with them last night, and they might not be as useful as I'd first hoped... really low ohms, but I was able to get sound out if it with a steel rod slug in the centre, and a neo magnet. More fiddling to do. They are 12v 40A automotive relay switches...
Relay switches as pickups... Single string pickups... 9 string mystery setups... and Mothman.

A meagre 86-93 ohms across the five I've pulled apart so far...
Something tells me that you could probably carve a hunk of Walnut into a turd and still win this thing...
This whole thread has my brain swimming and questioning my initial plan... but now I'm emotionally invested!!! One bass at a time.... I wonder how many I have to build before all my ideas disappear?.... There has to be a way to incorporate these vintage Campy parts....
I hear ya... The double bird may get the nod over another idea.
Might be able to use a transformer like Lace Alumatones. I'll have to pickup a few to experiment.
