Now that I think about it, a turd-shaped bass would very likely garner a lot of votes!

It's also done wonders for our local donut shops... can't tell you how much that caught me off guard when I saw these in the window at DK Donuts.

That said, I think mahogany makes a better poop than walnut.
(Though walNUT has a component that is kinda natural to the process)

Changing the subject.... I'm incorporating a homemade bridge into my build. I've resolved it mentally but not executed it in reality. Wanting to do more. Has anyone ever made their own tuning machines? A lot of work for what can be acquired for small money, but I thought it was worth the ask.

If you're talking about straight-pull headless type tuners, yes I know it's been done by @michaelwayneharwood

A headstock is crucial to my design brief so wanting to do something there. Maybe I can make some unique wings versus a true complete tuning gear.

You could do a cosmetic headstock with straight pulls on the headstock or with a clamping nut piece.

Custom tuner ears are pretty easy, the cheap elephant ear tuners on Amazon are easy to get the ears off and replace with something else. @SamanthaCay did that with keys The hamster wheel of my brain.

After seeing @mapleglo 's bass above, which I think has @michaelwayneharwood 's? tuners on it, I drew up a similar design, but mounted to the back of the headstock, with the strings passing through holes in the headstock to the back. Kind of like how Ritter mounts his headless hardware:
