Winter Buildoff 2022: Still A Diva

Yes, I have purchased at least 2 Delano pickups from them.
You like em? I've never played a Delano, so this will be new for me.
Yes, they are very clean and accurate. I had the oval looking ones.

Well, in the spirit of keeping things moving, I gave my list a long stare and decided "Hey, you know what? Let's just glue these body wings on. What's the worst that could happen?" (insert shrug emoji here....seriously, why do we STILL not have a shrug emoji? )
So yeah, body wings have been glued on. Clamp shot for posterity, I just stuck a bunch of clamps in random places all willy-nilly -

Yeah, so, the nice Bessey clamps aren't long enough. Honestly, neither were these, but they are the longest clamps I own. So using clamping cauls (namely the body blank offcuts) wasn't gonna happen because little Timmy doesn't own cool clamps. So we make due with what we have around here, and this is what you get. Hopefully it works, it looked to be sealed up good and had squeeze out all the way around the joints. Cross your fingers people, cross your fingers!

While I was at it, I went ahead and rough cut a control cavity cover -
I'll bring it down to final shape once the body is out of the clamps and I can actually fit it to the cavity. right now there's a giant clamp end in said cavity.
I may glue the top on tomorrow or something. We'll see. I probably have some flattening to do of that surface first.
But we're getting things done. We're taking baby steps. We're making headway. We're eating that elephant.
Oh, and I leave you with a random shot of the hardware, because we now have a jack and a pot -

I should probably start a Glacial Progress Club for all us Weekenders. I obsess all week and then try to cram it all into the few free hours I have.

Again, thinking out loud here. I do this while I'm sitting at work with nothing else to do and my mind is running rampant on this topic, in the hopes that when I get home, I can then look at this and go "Oh yeah..."

- I may use the Spindle Sander for this, it's less prone to ripping chunks of wood out.
- Roundover on top?
- I haven't really settled on what I'm doing with this. I know I want something, but it may be subtle.
- Clean up roundover on back.
- Finish belly carve.
- Clean up neck heel carve.
- Forearm carve?
- I'm still pretty undecided on this too. I need to look at it after putting some sort of roundover on the front.
- Drill Jack Hole
- I want the roundovers done first, learned from the last build.
- Drill volume pot hole.
- Finish control cavity cover.
- Route pickup cavity (after fretboard goes on)
- Flush trim body top to wings.

- Side Dots
- Glue it on the thing!
- Finish nut slot (prefer to be after it is glued on)

Also, in other news, got an email from Best Bass Gear with my tracking number. My pickup and template have shipped. Order was "free shipping, 5-7 business days" so I should have it all next week, Wednesday at the latest. Tracking number provides nothing yet because it hasn't been picked up, just a label created. But, on the good side, I know it is on the way and I really don't need it just yet anyways. I probably have two weeks of stuff to do before it gets critical.
And yes, I ordered a routing template too. At $11 for an acrylic template, why not?

Unless I'm mistaken, this should be my wiring diagram. Super simple on this one, just a single pickup, a single volume and an output jack -
The Delano info on their website isn't super clear and is broken up in ways I don't fully understand (I'm no wiring / schematic expert) but I'm pretty sure the Xtender is a humbucker, so it should come with 4 leads just like any other humbucker. For a fully passive, single volume layout, that seems legit to me. You know, aside from running a ground to the bridge.
Unless you smart guys say otherwise.

One of our number (I'm not recalling and not making the effort to search for it) had a lovely clamp shot of a fingerboard. Said clamp was no longer holding air for bicycle tires, IIRC. There might or might not have been more than one innertube involved, actually. But it was all rubber, no fancy metal clamps at all. Worked just fine.

The diagram will be correct if the pickup has four wires, but the colors are all wrong.
Delano has a bare shield ground same as any other 4 conductor pickup.
The colors other than that are yellow for ground (in place of green in your diagram). Brown/white as the middle (in place of red/white in your diagram). And green as hot (in place of black in your photo).
Yeah, looks like unless you got the hybrid pickup, wires are standard either 2 or 4 conductor depending. As @dwizum pointed out your diagram is right but the color coding is different:
