@Bent77 beat me to it. My main hi-lift for years had been run over by a guy up in the hills and left for dead. I asked him and he said it was toast and I could have it for parts. I propped it between two trees and used my winch to pull it straight again. Still had a teensy curve, but it worked fine until I sold my Jeep.

Sorry about your wife, but man Jeeps are great for staying together. I was in a slow-speed head on collision in my Cherokee a million years ago with a Toyota Tercel. My jeep had a bent bumper and dented front skid plate, plus a bent tie rod causing some serious toe in, but his car was totaled. Engine out on the road, passenger door laying on the ground, airbags deployed, glass and crap everywhere. After the cops came, I drove my Jeep around 40 miles home. A bit wonky but made it no problemo. :D

Yes, how is the wife today?
She's pretty banged up. Her neck and back are very stiff and sore, her foot and ankle are very sore and bruised, I have a concern that she may have broken her pinky finger. She keeps saying she's fine and she'll be okay, she just needs to give it time to relax, but I have concerns. I feel like I've seen this movie before, and then they spend the rest of their life dealing with chronic pain and reduced movement. :meh:
She went to work this morning, because she's one of the few people left in the world who refuse to take a day off for much of anything, unless she's literally puking.

Not a lot getting done this week. Been trying to make sure the wife is okay, and I kind of got frustrated with it. Sometimes I just get burned out and need to step back for a bit. I can not seem to find my radius sanding block I made for my last build, so I'm kind of parked on doing the final fretboard sanding. I need to get that done so that I can install the string retainers. I ended up ordering a new radius block from the Amazonians. It isn't expected to arrive for roughly two weeks, so I'm totally parked on that until then.

There's a few other things I can do before that, if I find some motivation. I left the neck a bit thick before gluing the fretboard on, because I wanted it to have enough strength to simply not break if I did something stupid. So I could do the final carve on that now. I also need to thin down the headstock thickness some too, now that I have the tuners and know it's too thick. I've also got a half finished bowl with a resin inlay that I started turning a couple weeks ago, still haven't finished it. My motivation kind of fell off a cliff when the wife got in that wreck, so I'm still trying to get back up to speed. To top it off, my exhaust went out on my truck Monday too. I know it has been kind of rusty and getting holes in it for a couple years now. there's a part of me that is scared to look under it, because catalytic converter theft is a YUGE deal in this area and I really don't want to see that I've been hit. Regardless, it literally sounds like a semi truck with straight stacks now and there's a certain RPM that resonates this perfect pitch that literally vibrates my ear drum, it's very painful. So I'm very angry this week, it's just been a very long week full of frustration. I may just sit on this build for a bit, but I know I'm running out of time, which adds to my frustration. :meh:  :sour: :rage:

Hey, Tim. Sorry to hear about the issues, hang in there man. I don't know what your budget is for the sanding beam, but take a look at what Philly Luthier Supply has to offer. I'm pretty sure they can get it to you in a week instead of two and their prices are pretty good... so maybe cancel that Amazon order and get it quicker?

Thanks for the link. the Amazon beam is just a wooden one and only $14 so I'm gonna stick with it. Considering how few basses I build, it should work fine as long as I take good care of it and don't nick it all up. :roflmao:
the tracking today updated to "Expected between 10th-15th" so maybe we'll get it by the end of next week. Who knows, at least I know it is coming from inside the US, so there' that. The vendor is "US Guitar Kits" out of Danvers, Massachusetts. Had it been overseas I wouldn't have ordered it just based on shipping times.

I hesitate to bump this one just yet, because I really don't have any real progress to share. I hate cluttering up the feed when others are actually doing stuff.

Anyways, it looks like my new radius sanding beam is here in Tacoma, which is cool. Tracking had estimated arrival between the 10th and 15th, so maybe I'll see it tomorrow. I've kind of been waiting on that, because I really wanna do the final sanding on the fretboard before I move forward. So hopefully this weekend I can get back on it. yes, there are other things I could have been doing. But it's my build man, I'll do it my way. :roflmao:

In the mean time, I've been working on this wood bowl with a resin inlay -

And editing the video for said bowl as well. It's been a solid month since my last video was released and TBH it's been a little over two months since I last uploaded a video to that channel (scheduling was so nice over the holidays), so I really need to get back to that.

It’s just a bass, no worries. I go on “hiatus” for months sometimes when I lose my Mojo. That’s why I can’t join the WBO’s, I have no idea how long it will take me. If it’s not fun at the moment, shelve it.
Yeah, that was my biggest concern going into this. My work flow on most everything tends to wax and wane, or ebb and flow, or whatever other term you wanna use. My wife picks on me for having 50 hobbies, but part of it is because when I get frustrated with one I can shift to another while that one waits for me to get past my frustration. I'm hopeful that having this deadline will prompt me to keep moving forward and get it done. But I'm also cognizant of the amount of work left in front of me too.
