Winter NAMM 2015 Updates - Basses

Since I'm only into sub-short scale bass, this really caught my attention. A very well known ukulele builder, Boulder Creek Guitars/RipTide Ukuleles showed a prototype acoustic/electric u-bass, 21" scale designed like a Fender Telecaster guitar. I'm really looking forward to the release in spring.

GoldTone had some 25" scale instruments like this that were really cool/fun. Almost bought the fretless one on the spot.

The new Ibanez 6 (PJ with Nordstrand designed pups) and 7-string (!) were really nice instruments. I was impressed - and I'm not easily impressed. I am easily amused however...

Spector has some new models. I saw a picture in this thread, but not much buzz. Maybe the Spector thread is talking about them. There is a new semi-hollow, carved top Spector with an acoustic bridge, as well as new neck-through Legend models.

Oh yeah, and a Skid Row signature model. Lol.

Was that really happening, or it was just a speculation? I remember that there was a rumour of the line being discontinued, but it ended up in thoughts of Fender wanting to move the remaining ones to offer new colors.

What is more, it seems that the new Custom Shop Precisions feature the more accurate "square" pickup cover, there was a rumour of the line being discontinued

I don't know, the CS options I saw were pretty small in comparison to the color offerings in the AV line:

Here's a few NAMM photos from today, starting with the new Fender Custom Shop models:

New P-bass with a 1.5" nut, hipshot tuners and contoured heal:

I just ordered a '63 Precision reissue in Seminole Red moments ago, and my sales rep at Sweetwater informed me they are now discontinued.
I don't know if he was referring to the entire line, the '63 reissues, or just that particular color...

That's interesting ... hope it's just the color. That line is IMO their best right now.

So does that mean you got the bass or not? The local shop to me has had a 63 in Seminole Red since the basses released, I've played it a few times and I just can't get on with the setup and the sticky feeling on the neck, it felt nothing like the 66 P I'd played a day or two earlier which was a real shame!

I hope they bring out some more colours for that line and change the finish on the neck!
