Winter NAMM 2018 (ultra Pic-heavy)

I haven’t read through this whole thread yet as I’m saving it (like a gift for Saturday morning coffee on the couch )

I’m not sure anyone posted this shot yet so I will ....

Absolutely stunning Fodera YY! Beautiful woods on this baby and made especially to be revealed at NAMM 2018

By the way, it had a $17,000 asking price.... yup, you read that right.

It seems like there has been an explosion of small, boutique companies making basses. Much like the explosion of micro-breweries in the past.

I can't speak for a decade ago, but I think it's about the same as the last couple of years. This year it seemed that NAMM was much more organized, which helped a lot. Almost all of the bass manufacturing companies were in Hall D or Hall E. The convention center added some new buildings/space, and I think that helped a lot in both booth allocation, and space to walk around. It's so much easier to see all the basses when you just walk from booth to booth to booth, rather than trying to hunt them down in various Halls.

Having owned 2 early 90's shorty Astro vans, this is the first time I've seen "Astro van" and "chick magnet" used in the same sentence. :cautious:

I didn't encounter the "couldn't care less" attitude from the many bass manufacturers I visited. Except for one, and this large display (owner) was downright rude. Everyone else had smiles, answered questions, and allowed me to check out their basses. Same for the bass amp/effects/cabs people - all very nice. I even visited Peavey (not in Hall D) and they were great; I wanted to play the import Cirrus since I have had a USA Cirrus since they came out.

I agree. I can't think of any negative experience with any of the booths. I also agree that @chowny was a great guy to hang out with and listen to talk about his basses.
