Nothing really new with them or Trace Elliot. I ask one of the engineers if there's any plans to make a beefier ELF. He tells me that almost as soon as they put it out, people were asking for a more powerful version. He says they're still in the talking stage. One of the things he thinks their mulling over is whether or not to keep it simple, or to add a couple of knobs for a compressor or other effect. He also said he thinks they were thinking of a 500 or 800 watt version. All speculation at this point.

Thanks for investigating - I expect, in part at least, they're holding fire until more people have experienced the current ELF, and learned that when Trace say "200 Watts" they mean "Loud!".

I'm sure they will have more powerful amps available in the, not too distant, future - whether that's a beefed up ELF, or some kind of middle ground between the ELF, and their pro heads of the past, remains to be seen.

I stopped by the Marshall booth, and asked what they had for bass amps. They pointed to the dimly lit corner where all the Eden stuff was. How shameful! I got the Eden guy to come and talk to me, and here's the scoop:

Nothing new at NAMM. However...Eden, like Marshall, is undergoing a rebranding. They're laying kinda low right now, but later on this year they're going to come out with some big announcements to go along with a new image.

No kidding! I made it as far as page 24 - before I (for no particularly rational reason) went online and bought myself BASS #9. Yep, the same bass guitar I have been telling myself I didn't need for the past half a year...

NAMM 2018 OBSERVATION: The guys from Chowny basses didn’t have the best booth location, or an impressive booth for that matter BUT they were tireless in their attempts to bring anyone even showing the slightest interest into their booth to try their gear.

Many other manufacturers reps seemed like they couldn’t care less if you were in their booth but hats off to the Chowny reps for their salesmanship, pride in their product and relentless attempts to educate bass players to their product line.

And staying on that note (no pun intended) Marco from Marco basses was also a great host in his booth. He was always there for any questions or any opportunty to talk bass and always with a smile.

I think I'd try to photo everything I possibly could then go back and try whatever I could.
Just being there would be something, though.

I don't think it possible - to take these type of photos AND play the basses. I only played the ones I was interested in but stopping to speak or ask questions took all my time. NAMM is bigger than one can imagine, and spread out. If it was a retail store and someone told me I could shop and get whatever I wanted and they would pay, I know I could easily run through over $200k in a day just from pure music gear lust.
