Winter NAMM 2018 (ultra Pic-heavy)

No kidding! I made it as far as page 24 - before I (for no particularly rational reason) went online and bought myself BASS #9. Yep, the same bass guitar I have been telling myself I didn't need for the past half a year...

Man.... Ibanez kills it year after year. Fender was so disappointing the last couple years outside a few good models like the Mustang PJ or some of the classic series. At this rate I think I'm becoming a full convert from the old Fender/G&L fanboy I used to be.

I am super in to the new BTB 33" scale E-C bass. I think I gotta have one now.

Also thinking about that micro bass fretless. I bought the Taylor fretted variety of micro bass (25" scale) and I love the scale length and size for an acoustic. Great for jamming or traveling, keeping your fret knowledge and groove skills up to par.

I'll probably be selling some of my unused equipment now.....

Wagon Wheel is the Bermuda Triangle for song lyrics! Our singer gets tripped on the verses often. Now, we have a drill for it - point at head "Heading down south.." point at moving knees "Running for the cold"... point at feet "Walking to the south".

Every demo I watched at NAMM was of Hadrian playing that brown Mayo on the upper left side of the first picture ....

Very interesting. Honestly, there are very few 30+ page threads that I open and read each and every post. This is one of them. Thanks. Great job.

I attended once, in Nashville. Met (and photobombed) Mike Tobias, Bob Babbit, Dave Roe, Dave Pomeroy, Victor Wooten, Keith Horne, etc. Very enjoyable for me, not so much for them. lol

I didn't take the list as "potshots"; I took it as "things you commonly see at NAMM". Stevie Wonder is a negative? Leather Vest? Unique Product? Also, a booth babe could be a guy. There were some mighty handsome fellows at some of those booths. I like to think that I'm pretty open-minded, and I didn't see anything cruel or discriminatory in that list.


edit to add: I forgot. On one of the days someone bumped me from behind, and apologized by calling me "Ms.". The look on his face when I turned around was quite funny.

I bought a brand new one a long time ago (I think it was back in the 80's). I didn't care for it. The strings were way too close together (for *MY* taste). I promptly sold it.

Yeah I agree, I had 3 Rics and seen a 5 back in the 80's so of course I had to play it and I played it for maybe a minute and thought, they just slapped another string on it, made the adjustments on everything but the neck, be very very difficult to get my thumb and fingers in for slapping, it was tuff just to play finger style, kinda cool on the left-hand ( short fingers) so everything was easy to reach, just couldn't get right-hand in there, hopefully they made some adjustments. I also played an 8 string at the same time sound cool with the octaves, was going to buy one but a buddy of mine who owned a shop said he had acouple come back, necks bowing I guess not enough truss rod, something else would like to see again and updated, nothing like the sound of a Ric, it has its place.

Going through various YouTube videos covering Winter NAMM 2018, I watched this one with Jeff Kiesel who gives a tour of their booth.

For those not digging this Singlecut Headless Zeus, they also have a Doublecut Headless Osiris (not referenced on bass side of the website yet.) This is not the Vader model. All 3 headless basses make an appearance in this video. Jeff picks up the Zeus and Osiris and holds them side by side, near the end of the video.

EDIT: Apparently, the YouTube video was copied from Kiesel's FB page without their permission. I don't like YouTube accounts who copy videos. Facebook doesn't seem to allow embedding of videos. You can view it within Kiesel's Facebook videos.
