Winter NAMM 2019 (ultra Pic-heavy)

I don't care who makes it, I'm not buying a bass with magets, neodynium or not!
Got a small collection of pics, not much in the way of gear, but we did get to meet some cool celebrity bassists and I got to hang out for the first time with my friends from Ampeg. Didn't take hardly any gear pics as I figured you guys had it handled. I would like to apologize to those I didn't get to meet up with, but NAMM is a giant mess and I had such trouble finding anything. Plus my wife can only do stuff like that for so long before her back issues make her stop. But we did have a great time and hope to do it again, and maybe next time we'll be a little better able to understand the layout. It's a little Ampeg-centric, but they had such cool events and being in the Marriott was much more comfy than on the convention center floor 
First off, here's Nancy and me with our host, Dino Monoxelos The Ampeg Guy...after all these years of trying and failing, we finally meet! Dino ran their exhibit like a champ, and is one of the nicest guys on earth to boot. You see him in action at NAMM and you instantly get why he's their spokesman.
@Mastermold probably posted this pic already, but here he is with us and @hodgy, who was handling the tech end of Ampeg's exhibit, and is every bit the badass you'd expect him to be:
Nancy with Darryl Jones (NICE!!!) and Roberta DeMott, daughter of the late great Jess Oliver, creator of the Ampeg Portaflex and Reverberocket lines of amps in the early 60's.
Us with Chrys Johnson, who's at Dunlop now but originally brought me into Ampeg when he worked there:
Me with Dom Liberati from Yamaha Guitar Group, and Shawn Scruggs, an Ampeg endorser from Nashville and a member on here. He did some product demos and played some songs he wrote which had him throwing down some badass.
The only two gear pics I took...Ritters. First bass is especially cool. Digging the white but would love it with the finish on that blue guitar in the second pic.
Us with Eva Gardner, bassist for Pink and Cher:
If you ever get the chance to see Marco Mendoza from the Thin Lizzy reformation and The Dead Daisies, you must. He is shot out of a cannon. And he played a metal-jazz version of Teen Town on a 6-string Ltd fretless that was unbelievable! But when he took selfies with us, he yanked the camera out of my hand and took 3 rapid fire shots, then he went around the room commandeering everyone else's phones. Good times. This was the only one that was almost in focus:

We no sooner met up with Hodgy and Dino, and Hodgy asks me if I want to play it to chime in 1 pm. I said, "Hell yeah I do!" They told me to play a chime and a lick and I did. We had to leave Bobby Vega's presentation a little early to do it, but while Bobby's a badass, you know I wasn't going to turn down a chance to play through the giant SVT! Man, that's a religious experience! It really fills up a hotel...not just the ballroom...the whole hotel! And I'm not much for 5-strings, but that Yamaha TRBX 5 I played was pretty sweet.
And for as much as people told me it's a bad idea to bring your wife to NAMM, I have to disagree. Nancy actually wanted to go and had a great time and made me look quite good in the process Love you baby!

NAMM is such a gas for people watching. It's difficult to tell the homeless from those with real gigs.
So Jared Dines released a video with strange looking guitars and basses. A few in there I really dig
Nope. When you're working at the service bureau / sign shop / printshop, you might ask the client, "Are you suuuuuuure you want 'muislcal' here?" but once the client signs off on the job, you don't change their words. Otherwise the sign doesn't follow the job order any more (even when the job order looks bad or has an obvious typo) and the client can demand a new sign for free. The last thing you want to do is free work that also causes delays for the paying customers.
Calling your brand Sus Bass doesn't exactly lend to standing out in Google. I didnt get educated on a bunch of suspended chords though.
They spelled 'fongerboard' wrong.
Pretty basses but I do like fretboard markers. How can I see one of these in person? I didn't attend the show. I just checked out the website. I don't see all options available on the design page but assume Devon will try to accommodate requests like other pickup options, coil tap switching and fretboard inlays. I've always been a fan of tilted headstocks and 0 frets. To my ears string retainers have an undesirable impact resonance. Also, it can make the first fret hard to play when the strings arch over the nut from too much downward pressure.

Locals in Anaheim call it "dark week" because nearly everyone visiting is wearing black.
I kinda dislike this half a dozen knobs, switches & buttons-fetish ... come on, in most cases the volume button is pretty enough for big tone, 'round 90% comes out the player's hands anyway, the rest goes through my MXR M80.
