Awwww shucks, and no problem. While I've not been thinking of taking the pickup out, I did consider putting one of these in.

I'm going to start by trying out the K&K system...just a couple of little round pads under the bridge (which is going to be made of the same wood as the fingerboard), running thru a hopefully barely-visible hole to the back and the output jack/strap pin combo. I don't want a big heavy metal bridge botching up my minimalist aesthetic.

I'm a die-hard tapewound guy, too, so the only visible metal on the whole thing will be the tuners and strap buttons.

Main problem I've encountered trying non-isolated piezos on a solid body bass is they pickup hand noise on the neck and belt buckle noise on the back of the instrument just about as well as they do string vibration from the bridge. Something to think about anyhow. I do like the idea of the bridge and fingerboard being of the same material. You might request wish include a square bridge blank with the order in case you want to try something like this instead of the K&K.

this is from the description-


The is some very nice Ambrosia Maple with all sorts of color and bark inclusions. There is over two octaves of fingerboard.

Ambrosia Maple is caused by a beetle that drills into the wood and allows fungus to grow, which colors the wood. This one is still real solid and fairly heavy.

This one has alll sorts of color and some curly places. Very Nice

This bass features a persimmon fingerboard and the bassy and reliable EMG Select J-Pickup. Neck is Mahogany, Purpleheart and and Maple. Bass is fairly light perhaps 10 pounds on the old bathroom scale.


Neck itself is Mahogany, with one Purpleheart and two Maple stringers.


The nut is 1 7/8 inches wide. The scale is 34 inches.

The tuners are Grover Mini Black Chromes. There is only a volume control. The cover plate is brushed aluminum ... Sprayed lacquer finish... Strap buttons and side dots are standard. Bridge and nut are Corian plastic

If you look through this thread (or maybe part one), I think you'll see the poster who owns the $750 wish. The LED position markers are from https://fretfx.com/ if I remember correctly.

I don't know if that is enough to justify the value added pricing. Most used ones (from my limited experience) seem to be selling just about what Steve sells them for.

I guess "sweat equity" only works for houses.

I agree. He'll be lucky to get over $500.

I agree. It does have a Bartolini pup though, which counts for something. With no refinish work or releveling of the FB, I think $500 to $550 is tops. I just sold my 4 string Lobe and got $305 for it, which with the shipping I paid originally is very close to what I paid for it and I feel fortunate to have gotten that! ( It was a nice one though.) Maybe the value of these guitars will rise a little once Wish builds #1000 and some time has passed. We all know that resale value is not why one should buy a Wishbass - you gotta' be into them!

Pete, I haven't forgotten the pix of the persimmon Lobe - I have company this weekend thru Monday but I will take some shots soon after that. Hang on ...

yeah, you'll never get what you paid for it, if you paid more than $400. BUT one can always try, right?

I paid a bit over $500 for my first custom job, and the 2nd one was more than that - due to the Ebony fingerboard - plus money I've put into it.

i'm not sure how i feel about those.....my first reaction was :scowl:.....but, whatever floats your boat i guess.
