"$750 and you supply the active pickups"... but he can't get ebony wide enough for 6 strings - so it might have to be a 5 string, or some other kind of fingerboard wood.

Did you get a quote from him or something? I wonder if he can get katalox or mac ebony for a 6er. I could go for that too.

As far the pickups....i would stay with the kent armstrong soap bar but add the audere Z pre. They work with passive pickups and its any easy install.

yeah, the Kent Armstrong might be the way to go. He can get ebony for a 5 string so, it'd be $50 less, but if you go with the Kent, it'd only be $650. But for that matter, you could have him ship it without the pickups and route the thing yourself.

And although I am currently putting together a bass of my own - with a bunch of parts, I have no experience setting up electronics.

I don't have any experience with them either. However i installed the audere pre in my jazz with no issues what so ever. It came with all of the necessary info and and every thing cam pre wired(no soldering required either) The only thing that might throw me off is the fact that he uses corian for the bidge, i don't think that would make a very good ground:D But like i said i dont have experience either so there might be some other options regarding a ground. but my jazz bass turned out GREAT. It can do anything i want it too.

I'm kinda partial to short scale basses... Was thinking of asking wish to build a short scale, maybe make the neck extra small (at least by his standards- hey, i have extra small hands).

Has anyone seen a wishbass with say a 31" scale? (And yes i know it's harder to play a fretless in tune "up high" with a shorter neck... :)

Might have to ask him for a "flat" headstock, as i can't have a headstock that's as long as the neck :eek:

You can shorten the scale of any Wish by pushing the bridge toward the pickup... Sure it'll throw the side dots out of alignment but it sounds like a lot of Wishes come that way anyway.;)

I was going to suggest the Capo method that was explored in another thread, but that wouldn't work too well on a fretless.

just placed my order for a wish a week and a half ago quoted at 470

unfinshed 4-string swirl, without the hole
Ash body with a purpleheart neck and fingerboard
Kent Armstrong soapbar Humbucker
No side dots, rear routed
also I'm having him string it up B-E-A-D with rotosound 88's

I played upright for the longest time and am just switching to electric so a fretless without side dots and an open headstock is pretty natural for me, hopefully it will be done near the begining of march can't wait
