Some of these basses are no doubt among the most beautiful bass guitars. I really like the ones that are a bit less radical in design.
From all I've read, I'm on the fence still when it comes to buying one. I have an interest in luthiery and so far have built one instrument, the pics of which will only be posted long after my death. It has a small washtub for a body, a plywood poplar soundboard, and a neck/fb of solid red oak, oak bridge, 8 strings, and a 25" or so scale. What I learned from this hilarious experiment is - it can be done - the hardest thing was getting the parts to fit together smoothly, and after the process you look at something like a Fender and think, wow. So elegant.
I'm pretty sure I have the skills to tighten up a wishbass, though, but then I think, since the hardest part is in the refining, why not just make one myself.
I see 3 wishbasses on the bay presently, one of which I really like. 'The Arrow'.
