Okay, so Wish said he's stringing up my bass right now and that he'll have pics later today. Finally! I ordered mid Nov. Still, 3 months for my first custom bass is pretty good.

I'll post pics if I get them before 5pm PST.

this is what I ordered...

Ambrosia Maple top
Purpleheart fingerboard
Walnut and Maple body and neck
Volume and Tone Controls
jackplate on the back
Kent Armstrong Soapbar Pickup

I have two and they both fit in this:

Although I don't know if yours will... the larger gig bags seem to work well enough for Wish's, but I would make sure that the bag has enough room for the headstock - since that's the biggest problem with finding a hardshell case. I think Wish sells some Gator bag/case with a zipper, but I don't know if it's a hardshell.

Here's my Lobe 5. It is all walnut with the typical maple and purple heart neck. I took out the EMG J pup and installed a Lindy Fralin J pup. I still haven't filled the gaps in but I will soon enough. Plays awesome, sounds awesome. Get more responses about this than any other bass when I play live with it around town.

Question for you on the Lindy - could you have fit it in the place of the EMG that was in there?
Reason why I ask is that I'm thinking of outfitting my Lobe with another pick up. Is the Lindy the same size?

That depends. The Lindy did not fit in the stock route due to the fact that Wish put a 4 string emg on a 5 string bass. The angle of my Lindy is due to the string spacing. At the angle it is set each string is centered in the poles. I would not expect that problem on a 4 string Lobe.

Sounds good to IMHO.

Some of these basses are no doubt among the most beautiful bass guitars. I really like the ones that are a bit less radical in design.
From all I've read, I'm on the fence still when it comes to buying one. I have an interest in luthiery and so far have built one instrument, the pics of which will only be posted long after my death. It has a small washtub for a body, a plywood poplar soundboard, and a neck/fb of solid red oak, oak bridge, 8 strings, and a 25" or so scale. What I learned from this hilarious experiment is - it can be done - the hardest thing was getting the parts to fit together smoothly, and after the process you look at something like a Fender and think, wow. So elegant.
I'm pretty sure I have the skills to tighten up a wishbass, though, but then I think, since the hardest part is in the refining, why not just make one myself.
I see 3 wishbasses on the bay presently, one of which I really like. 'The Arrow'.

While I would have to disagree with you on that, they are what they are - handmade instruments that are affordable. And you can get a pretty decent one of a kind bass without spending too much. I do like the fact that all of them are different. I've been collecting pics of them for awhile, and at some point, plan to put up a gallery of them - online.
