glad he switched to using balck tuners the silver ones looked stupid. I wonder if it's just coincidence he started using black tuners after I ordered my custom equipped with them hmmm lol j/k

I think maybe he bought it on a whim. He is a TBer... but maybe he didn't know what he was getting into with a wishbass. They aren't for everyone.

I actually haven't read anyone say that they are of outstanding quality- did you read that on TalkBass? I had one for a month and it was the lowest quality bass I've ever touched. It would be great if he has greatly improved since then- if you keep doing something, you're bound to get better at it.

But, then again that might not be your calling.

Seriously, they aren't for everyone, but they sure are more interesting than your typical machine made bass.

Actually, this one does look nice...I'd be concerned with a pickup designed for a 4/5 string bass on a 6 though. The B and C strings look pretty much outside of the magnetic field. Is the low string a B?

Do the tuners and the bridge look out of whack, or is it just me?

I appreciate the fact that you have a photo showing the bass being played. Wish' are so unique that I have a hard time grasping their size...

Yeah, EARTHY is a good way to describe a wishbass. The neck on that one is really thick, but feels good cause it fills up your hand. The pickup was upgraded by BassDude (who I bought it off ebay from) to a SD basslines Quarterpounder. It's pretty good. My bass player friend came over awhile back and played it - he really liked it and hadn't even plug the thing in! Maybe I should hit him up and see if he wants to buy it.

then again, maybe I'll just keep it. One can never have enough basses.

yeah, Wish does do some strange things I'd never consider.
although, Here's a blurb on the KA soapbars:

What does he usually do on the pickups for 6 and 7 strings? How about that 11 string? heh!

And those tuners do look a little off, but hey, it's a Wishbass.

I've been contimplating one of these as an extra fretless. I really like the one that is being sold on eBay right now by dchugh51. I dig that body style. The only thing I really don't like about the whole thing is the aluminum plate that the vol. knob and the input jack are attached to. For such an organic instrument, that just looks out of place to me. I don't really recall seeing one w/o that plate. I think it would look much better without it. The purpleheart is one of the nicest woods that I've ever seen on an instrument. If it looked 3/4 as cool on the Wishbass as it does on an Alembic, that would be the icing on the bass. Oh, and please, no flames about using "Wishbass" and "Alembic" in the same breath!

Yeah, I like that hyper model too. that one is only a few weeks old as I saw Wish's original ebay listing.

he does make them with the aluminum plate rear mounted. I had mine built like that - which should be arriving tomorrow. [Pic below.] I've also contemplated making a wood plate to replace the aluminum one. Someone on here a few posts back made a fiberglass one.

I've seen some on ebay with the plate rearmounted. There is one on there now:

But I imagine that there is a huge difference between and Alembic and a Wishbass. At least $1000.

ya thats me , I'm selling it because I need to fund something else, honestly i love how it sounds, but the neck on it cramps my left hand up after 20-30 minutes of playing, the neck is just too big for my liking.

Edit: Also if you want, I can send a sound clip, keep in mind though it was my first day on a fretless + a few brews haha
