Has anyone here ever bought, sold, or kept a bass around because your wife, girlfriend/s, kids, dog? Liked it, didn't like it, hated it, loved it, jealous of it?

I had a 7 string once that my girlfriend at the time would keep commenting that she thought was hideous, she was like "what happened to the cute blue one?" I didn't get rid of it(at least not then) but I did keep it out of her eyesight, anybody experience similar or worse?

anyway, we broke up, and I even had thoughts of keeping it just becuz she had it some time, lol, but I really hated that bass, it was so heavy and poorly built

My current girlfriend has commented a number of times that my Squier Affinity-p in cream is beautiful. Yet, no love for the Lakland or for my uncle's vintage p either.

My 1st wife gave me my Carvin 6 string. At first I really didn't like it. I tried to get her to let me sell it. She refused to even talk about it. Over time I came to LOVE that bass, and her....not so much.

My kids aren't even going to know that I play an instrument until they are 18. I also don't want them to know that I have a degree in math. I'll tell them I do construction so when they come to me for help with math homework, I can respond "I don't know, go ask your mother."

I told my son that I put my hot pink Retro-H Daisy Rock up for sale since I recently bought a 12-string version of the same guitar and can't really rationalize having them both. He wants me to give it to him-- just so it won't leave the herd!

My Much Better Half picked out a "Barely Used" Music Man S.U.B. Sterling for me as a gift because she knew I didn't have one but would never get a full-on model as it's not *my* tone... but she knew I wanted to have something approximating one in my collection. She chose it because of the unique finish that she dug, not knowing it was the rare "Cinnamon" finish that was the last S.U.B. finish sprayed before they halted production and that mine is 1 out of only 100.

To a point, she's down with my basses and likes the vast majority of them.
