Workplace harassment laws: Gone too far??

It's pretty easy to see who "that chick" is going to be. Just avoid/ignore them. There are plenty of professional women, young and old, that enjoy a laid back and relaxed workplace who will talk to you about anything and you can compliment them or talk about relationship advice, etc. and it's not an issue. Just don't be "the creep" and they won't have a tendency to get "creeped out".
I dunno, I've never had issues w/ women at work. If anything, it's been a little too forward on their end...

Not only have I seen it happen, I've made it happen. It depends on the status of the complaint.

It ain't happenin' in Ontario! I can tell you that much.

The three of us met in my office,

In Ontario - if HR is involved? That ain't happening, either!

To be totally correct, she had not yet asked for HR to be involved.

I don't know the laws in Michigan. But I'd surmise that if HR had become involved - the accused wouldn't be allowed to know anything. HR would just listen to both sides and make a decision.

Define.

I've worked in very small (like here) and very big (150 on my floor) offices, and it's pretty easy to tell which women/girls you can speak to, and in what degree. If there's a girl that is jovial and jokes around and talks to a lot of people, but for whatever reason just doesn't really hit it off with you, there's no need to put the pressure on her of you two being "buddy buddy" like she is with others. Or, if a woman is reserved and to herself and doesn't really talk to anyone, giving her a compliment or mentioning her blouse or new haircut isn't a good idea because she'll take it the wrong way, which is why nobody else really bothers with her.

I guess I just mean don't make anyone uncomfortable and if someone isn't wanting to be work buds with you, just let that go. Again, luckily, I get along with just about everyone (especially women) but I've definitely seen the converse of this.
