World String Change Day...

It's a cute gimmick but humorously I change strings about once a year on most of my basses and as an academic I do it in the summer--did four of my basses this past weekend. Honestly a lot of the time it's just an excuse to clean the bass, polish the frets, oil the fretboard, etc. all of which is easier to do when the strings are off.
Same here. I’ve gone up to 18+ months but that’s when I start to see tuning problems, or just plain dead sounding. So I schedule my annual browsing trip to the local guitar store :smug:

I don't change any strings very often and have settled in on two strings, partly chosen because I have had a good experience with longevity.

Most of my stable has TI flats on them. Once I put a set on a bass, I haven't needed to change them. One set on my most-used Fender PJ is over 20 years old.

For rounds, I have good luck with DR steel low-riders. They settle in well and then last a long time for rounds. Luckily, I'm a low-mids guy and don't like a lot of twang.

I don’t let “the man” tell me when to change strings.

I’m an iconoclast, a maverick, a rebel who plays by his own rules…then breaks those rules and makes some new ones…then breaks those.
