I don't care if it's fugly, but momentary buttons located at the pivot of the main switch is what I'd like.

What do you mean by pivot of the main switch?

We will have a setting where you can set it to use either latching or non-latching (momentary) footswitches.

I mean the main footswitch looks to spring on a pivot at the back (rearward) edge ala Boss etc. Obviously a momentary foot button should not engage the main switch, and the obvious position is up near said pivot, away from accidental tapping and lacking torque on main switch due to proximity to pivot.

Yes, I think I understand you -- the momentary switches will be located along the center-line of the footswitch so it will be away from where you step on the main pedal to prevent accidental tapping.

I think he is just trying to understand your suggestion. A suggestion which, IMO, is not very realistic.

Went and took a better look, deleted my [stupid] suggestion it's only step above a Boss DB-60. Looks like it could well be worth the price. If I stumble over some cash I'll consider.

I know there are some Boss-like pedals with additional switches, but I would think that, in general, that requires internal space which the current version of the Beat Buddy may not have.

I know that on a project like this, if things are going well, there is not much to report. Would it be possible for you to give us a bi weekly status update even if it is "No change in projected ETA and no reported issues from Manufacturing".

These things take months to years to get out. Don't make the poor guy slather on the b.s. on a timed basis. If my avatar can wait for it, so can you.

It's been about 4-6 weeks since the last update, which was the first time the timetable had slipped (for delivery since the crowdfunding campaign...obviously, the timetable had slipped repeatedly prior to getting the campaign started). I've been a huge supporter of this idea, I have participated extensively in this thread and on their Facebook page, and I was on the crowdfunding page literally the first minute that it opened, and ultimately one of the first 10 or so supporters. Having said all that, the 3-4 month pushback is a scary number to me, it's just a particular range that feels like it's putting the project in limbo. I have no experience with manufacturing and product development, I'm not going to pretend like I do. I realize, certainly, there are things which are out of David's control if they are relying on third-party parts.

But, at this point, what are the guarantees that this part will come through?

Is that part itself delayed until July, and if not, is there anyway the manufacturing can be expedited on Beat Buddy's end once they get the part?

I wasn't one of these people, so maybe it's none of my business, but what happens to the people who paid over twice as much ($399 IIRC) for the "Speedy Buddy" to get the "early delivery" (March instead of April)?

I'm not here with a pitchfork or anything, nor am I trying to "demand" answers. But I do have $179 (not to mention countless hopes and dreams!) tied up in this product. I think it's fair to ask for updates occasionally. David has mostly provided those in the past, and I hope he continues to do so.

I get all that bro... I do have experience with the manufacturing process of electronics - it is a long, slow process. If any of it is being made in Asia I'm thinking those parts probably haven't been actually started - 2500 parts is at the bottom end of the range of what they want to handle. It's all about quantity. Sorry I haven't read all 26 pages to get the details on how and where this is being made. I hope it isn't vapor-ware(vw)...I've seen a number of vw projects in my main gig of watches. Some of them were taking pre-sale orders for years, then fizzled out. I don't make this news, only reporting it. I pray it goes well for all concerned.

No. I think I misunderstood you. We're are not changing the BeatBuddy design. We are only working on the BeatBuddy branded footswitch, which will use momentary switches.

I got one of those, too. Since I'm not using a pedalboard, I think the largish metal case will work well as a standalone switch. I replaced the switches with Carling momentary SPSTs and replaced the 20 foot cable with a Switchcraft 1/4" TRS jack.
