Worlds First Drum Machine in Pedal Form!

In the fashion that boss rc2 looping pedals get modded.

I Googled this and see better what you're saying. However, the BB primary stomp switch had a different form factor than the Boss pedal---you don't have nearly the same amount of space above the rubber pad. I'm still not sure if you have the internal space available either.

It's so amazing that we had a band meeting last night about trying to find small drum machine that we could all get for ourselves to help with our individual at home recording of our parts for songs.

Now I come upon this thread that seems to have exactly what we're looking for!!

It's so bad when 5 people record the same thing at slightly different tempo's - this will fix that right up!

In scenarios like yours, I suspect drummers are going to feel slapped around by the Beat Buddy.

I saw the beat buddy this past weekend at the Dallas guitar show and it is more that I expected (and I expected a lot!!).

David was forth coming with info and his plans. I also got to see\hear some on the bench material as well.

This is a very cool product.

I am glad I got my order in.

I truly look forward to getting mine.

My guitarist/music partner and I have been discussing Beat Buddy for months. We've integrated its potential into our original music, got our duo gigs + BB planned out for the summer. It's like we've already taken the girl to the prom, married her and had a family. Not bad for a zygote. Now I just need to get this baby born and into my hands to unleash its magic.

Signed,

Can you elaborate on both of these points? These next two+ months are going to kill me.

A MIDI out or some way to export beats to a PC would be GREAT! I have drum plugins already, but this could be great for live or getting some of those beats down on the PC. If nothing else, keeping my timing tight on songs with this would be awesome!

Look into the product a little more---it has some MIDI capabilities, both in and out. I'm not totally sure which ones you need, or exactly what you want for exporting.

Oh I must have missed it. Read the first two pages and skipped to this last one, thanks for the info. I have Addictive Drums which I use in Reaper, would just want the beats from here translated onto to there so I can use the drum sound samples from Addictive Drums to record the beats. I'd love this even for jamming purposes or practicing bass exercises.

There will be a software for creating and editing beats. I think it uses MIDI triggers and you could find a way to import other beats if they are in the right format? I'm not sure though---don't take my word for it.

Can't wait either! My guitarist and I are both getting one and plan to integrate both for our ambient/electrnoic/synth project and plan to use mine primaily in our main band. Our drummer is actually excited as well and plans to get one for his board (he plays guitar) as well. My board is complete excpet for this (had a spot on my board since August!)

In short, no physical changes to the device and a lot of drum\song material.

Seeing the pedal in action and getting my hands on it, even for a short time, it is obvious the pedal works, works well, and is easy to use.

From my discussion with David, the hardware is set and the main focus is the continued work on software and material.

What surprised me was the volume of usable drum material and the fact that David is working more material.

We tried several different styles and a few of the drum kits. Just twist a knob or press a foot switch and you're there.

David also told me they are planning on more demos to show off these different styles. It is my understanding that new demos will be released as a way to demo the product\styles and keep the clients connected to the process. I like this idea!

David did let me know about a related product, but it is vapor ware at this time and is still being designed. It would not be fair to talk something that is not through the first design stages.

I hope that this helps.

I'm going to ask you a question anyway...is this the external footswitch? If so, David has mentioned that here, so I don't think it's really a secret, even if it is vaporware.

Thanks for the info, though. Oh man, I can't wait for this thing.

The new search facilities take a lot more clicking through, but you can still search users posts and afaik David only posts on this thread, that'll give you the horse's mouth version. He usually quotes the original questions too.

Footswitch it is!!

I must have missed David's post about Beat Buddy building a footswitch.

Yeah, there was a bit of back-and-forth a few pages ago about what would be the ideal form factor if Beat Buddy were to release an official footswitch. I'm not sure there was a consensus- people planning to mount it on a pedalboard want it to be as small as possible, while people planning to use it as a standalone will need more mass to keep it in place.

Not only that, but from their FAQ at [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

A momentary footswitch designed specifically for the BeatBuddy will be available in our online store soon.
