Worlds First Drum Machine in Pedal Form!

I'm currently overhauling my secondary board (which my Beat Buddy will go on), and it's potentially going to be mainly controllers! Okay, not THAT many, but still... Beat Buddy with footswitch, Timeline with extra footswitch, possibly a Pigtronix Infinity with external footswitch........ lol Out of control!

5sg.

Ha, I know this feeling. I already have 6 not-actual-effects boxes on my board (true bypass switch, expression pedal, expression knob, two FS3Xs, and HH3 receiver). I do wonder if, eventually, something like a Pedal Palette would be the right move to simplify things.

I saw the beat buddy this past weekend at the Dallas guitar show and it is more that I expected (and I expected a lot!!).

David was forth coming with info and his plans. I also got to see\hear some on the bench material as well.

This is a very cool product.

I am glad I got my order in.

I truly look forward to getting mine.

Dimitrius

It was great to meet you Dimitrius!

Really looking forward to getting the BeatBuddy out to you and everyone else ASAP!

Checked out the site, this guy looks sick. Is there a way to write out an entire song, click, and then not worry about it until the next song? That with all of the other controls when make this more or less the new drummer of my solo band.

That's a good question. I don't think that's really the intent. I suppose in the worst case, if you have enough space, you could just program the entire song as a single "chorus" and just leave it on that?

Yes you can -- just have the whole song in one big midi file as the first song part (midi files are tiny so memory isn't an issue) -- it'll play through until the end. But that kinda defeats the purpose of the BeatBuddy, which is the capability to control your beats on the fly. You might as well have a backing track to play along to.

I want something that I can do both. Some songs I’m writing take a lot of pedal work but the beat is straight forward(switching effects/singing/switching beats might be out of my abilities), others take a bit more drumming and are straight forward on the bass. If I can get an all in one that is easy to use, that ends the debate for me.

Everyone who ordered already got this announcement but here is the latest Indiegogo update:

They have all the parts and are on pace for a July delivery! My biggest concern is I'm moving ~August 1st. I really would love to know if they can nail that date down better, because at this point I honestly don't know what address they need to ship it to (I don't even know my next address, I just know I'm moving).

Also, a new demo with a guy playing guitar that proves once and for all this is the best pedal for metal:

Whoa, I was trying to post the link to the latest Indiegogo update. Did not know that would automatically post like that. Weird.

We don't have the exact date yet. With manufacturing and logistics things can be +/- a week or even two. Contact me by email and we'll arrange it. David(at)mybeatbuddy.com

After Roland/Boss, Korg, or Tascam buys him out, they'll probably be a little cheaper!

I doubt it... the large companies expect to make a much larger profit margin than we're making. The reason the BeatBuddy is priced this way is because it's a computer (with CPU, RAM, USB, etc.) in a pedal, not just some simple analogue circuits like your average pedal.

Not that I plan to sell out... the BeatBuddy is my baby and it would be very difficult to see someone else take it over.

So where are your babies manufactured exactly? And who designed/programmed it, if I may ask?

It's being manufactured in China -- like most of the electronics in the world.

Thanks. I will do that. Sorry to be a pain. The timing is just really unfortunate for me. :)

Well, whether you sell out to a large corp or not, I plan to get one of these pedals for sure.

For the MOST authentic, realistic "live drummer" emulation though, we need a drum machine that runs on alcohol. :D

Sticking the Beat Buddy in my gig bag will solve the "availability" issue, so for authentic realism the manufacturer should program in random product failures. As a bonus, the device could include audio patches spewing random bitching about the music. All of this will bring great pleasure when I raise my foot and ... stomp on it.
