The Empress is more neutral.

After having a preamp that has a color button I decided I wanted something transparent. I also decided on higher quality, more control than seems like was offered in the cheaper compressors. Since I've never used one it will be fun to experiment. Arrives next week some time.

I don't get the baked in tone with my cali. I've spent the whole evening playing. Around with it and another compressor and to me the Cali really clears the tone up while making it crisp, round and smooth.

What's the point of the belt clip? Doesn't one wireless device plug into the bass output and the receiver wireless device plug into input of amp/pedal?

There is an extension cable that comes with it, which I use. I modified it and put a Neutrik right angle plug on it.

I am not a fan of the whole unit hanging down by the plug. I prefer it on the strap.

Not a fan of it falling and hanging by the cable tho...

Yep, that it will do but if you compared it with the Keeley or Empress side-by-side for example you would hear the accentuation of mids and highs. Don't worry though, the Cali does some good for the tone and it is still on the more transparent side of compressors. It adds something special that you notice immediately when you turn it off. That's that good coloration. Enjoy!

9 volts.

A Lakland 55-01 with Carvin SP-2's and a Glockenklang 3 band. Also, an MTD Kingston Z5 with Delano SBC Dual Coils and a custom Nordstrand JC-3b.

I ended up with your milkbox you had for review. I really like it. I started with ehx bass preacher, kinda noisy but easy to use. Ended up with a SFX Horizon it was good but not what I was looking for. Got the milkbox and pretty happy. Think it will stay for awhile.

That's a fun compressor. Can get some big tone out of that one.

You sound exactly like me. I sweat over spending the money on thr "right" tool, or pedal and do tons of research. I get paralysis by analysis. Then if I'm not satisfied the buyers remorse kicks in.

Here is my first try at making a pedal board. It's out of scrap lumber off a job. It needs a couple more coats of paint. Never thought I needed one until I exceeded 5 pedals.

It's pretty obvious that I'm not much of a proponent for pedals in this particular venue. A subtle approach usually seems appropriate at our church and we play everything from Crowder to Big Daddy Weave, to the old Hymns. Having said all that, I AM a huge fan of the LR Baggs Stadium DI. The compressor works really well and I use it all the time. I can use the Attack dial to get different sounds from tubby to crisp depending on what the song requires. There is a cool growl dial. The other effects are very well done and often useful. There are video reviews that show the functionality of this pedal and you need to check them out! The Pitch Fork is only used for practice. Praise team leaders seem to think doing a song in the original key is sacrilege. I use it to shift key signatures so I can practice along with the original songs on iTunes! I use a Line 6 G10 wireless too and appreciate the freedom it affords.

I ordered this Cali76 and decided to dale before I tried it because I had buyers remorse paying that much for a compressor. Problem is I plugged it in and played in it all evening and wow... there is a huge noticeable difference in my tone and I can't let it go right now. I've put together a killer little pedal for church and travel. Looking forward to playing this setup with my New Roscoe SKB the next 2 days.

This was me.. exactly... when I bought my Cali76cb... but, even though I'm not playing for service anymore, I'll still keep it .. it's part of my sound now... it just sounds wrong without it

Yes the Compact Bass version. I was happy with my old compressor (TC Spectracomp) until I hooked the Cali up and played through it. My wife and daughter who are tone def even noticed a huge difference lol.
