:thumbsup:... @ExaltBass is working on a 3' XLR-M to RA 1/4" TRS patch cable to keep in my gigbag. I already have a straight 1/4" trs version to test the DI with this week. ALSO, the LA has a 3-level switch to vary the DI output to the board. This is a really handy feature!

When I was playing at different church venues (different boards)...My Monique tube preamp has a variable (balanced transformer) DI output knob, and I could quickly optimize the bass signal with the board tech (typically more clean output from my tube preamp, and less board gain = cleaner FOH signal...)

With the DI resolved, it allowed me pb space for my reverb/mod pedal, which I often use very subtly on slab basses...mandatory (for my ears) with my RA acoustic bass.

Effectrode LA-1A incoming... will land Wednesday. 1/4 TRS > XLR-M cable (4 ft) will be in the works later today. I just need to determine the color...

Nice! For me, the cost of this pedal is easily offset by selling pedals not needed...doesn't do everything for me in all cases, but it's definitely a "real estate saver" type pedal.

Had the LA-1A DI'd > FOH in our practice place today...can confirm the patch cable (xlr-m > 1/4" trs) works perfectly, and the lowest level (+6 dB) was plenty of signal—mixing board bass channel gain was trimmed lower than usual.

Everything was dead quiet noise floor (FOH, amp) turning LA knobs about any usable way I wanted. Seems unreal, compared to many compressors...:)

No slam on people who like/use a lot of effects, but I find that my bass sounds best with a simple, good DI and that's about it. Tuner/mute and my IEM box and I'm golden. I find the 3 band EQ on my Roscoe's to be more than enough to shape my tone and the JDI sounds great in my ears.

Hi I am new here and play at several churches in the area. My Big Church recently swapped out to Rupert Neve DI box and I noticed the IEM bass sound quality immediately improved. I'd like to hear others opinions. My signal path is stupid simple. At the less Big Churches I serve with, I bring my Bergantino B/Amp and use its DI out. I like the Berg preamp and tone shaping. Its got some compression, overdrive, flexible EQ, high pass filter, etc. Any Berg love, here?

I've heard read good things about the Starlifter but it is missing too much for me to consider giving it a spin. No cab sim. No tubey goodness (though maybe the vintage switch adds some synthetic tube tone). No treble lift/attenuation. No effects loop. Very important to me is the AUX In and Earphones Out that the Starlifter lacks too.

I also really like the small form factor of the MKIII.

Anyway, so many options out there these days but the MKIII keeps me from looking.

I had the chance to play with a homemade (not by me) buttkicker platform and IEM's. What an amazing experience. I miss it so much. I want to have one for my home, lol. I know they make those things you can mount to your strap that vibrate. Might have to give that a shot. It makes such a huuuuuuuge . . . . seriously . . . . huuuuuuuuuge . . . difference.

Yep. That's what I was talking about. A bit pricey, methinks. Have you tried it? I wonder how convenient it is to use live. If you used a wireless it wouldn't be a big deal to have another pack on, but it seems like it would be weird to play with hardwired.
