Scubaduba - after reading almost all of your compressor reviews - and the posts here and in the preamp thread - I ordered an LA-1A tonight. I saw your post about using the RNDI after it - but was curious for your impressions of using the LA-1A as your compressor and DI. Any thoughts there? (And thanks for all the amazing content you've posted. Very helpful). It's a great one at that. Here's my review: https://www.compressorpedalreviews.com/post/effectrode-la-1a-leveling-amplifier
I’m looking to finally mount my pedals and round out my board.
If anyone has a Pedaltrain Metro 20, a Broughton HPF (always on), or a 3Leaf Octabvre mini, I’m trying to find some.
I figure it’s about time to stop loading in individual pedals from my gig bag, especially with a new church opportunity that’s got things a little more professionally run.

Just wondering if there’s a difference using another DI instead of just runing out of the LA-1A.Well sure. I've run the LA-1A into a JDI, Countryman, RNDI, Trickfish Trilobyte, Shift-Line Olympic, Suncoast F2p, DSM Bass Simplifier, Marleaux Tonwerk, Meridian Trinity.... To name some. Why do you ask?

I’m putting this back out there after our busy Sunday chatter. If anyone has a line in these, I’d be grateful for the lead.
So maybe I try running it into my JDI? Sounds like going into a “true” DI is maybe the way to go? Of course then I need a slightly longer board.
I didn't know there was a PT mini. However, looking at google, it seems this won't give me third rail up at the top and I'm concerned about power supply beneath (like how CS6 can fit underneath a Metro). Thanks for the offer though! Not a Metro 20, but I have a Mini... if that would work for you?? PM if you're interested![]()
Passive DI's lose as much as 20dB at the balanced output. That's why the signal is lower. Running the LA-1A should also result in some signal loss. But the RNDI is an active DI right? The JDI is passive. I often wonder if that's part of my problem. The JDI is a fantastic DI but the level it sends to the board is weak compared to an active of course. Although we had to really gain it down at the board as the signal from the LA-1A was really hot Sunday. Maybe the combination will be the sweet spot?
I'd hate to also have to look for a different DI after dropping $500 on this tube compressor.

I can't believe it's that terrible. Tons of people swear by the JDI. And don't you play active basses, or am I thinking of someone else? I can't believe low gain would be an issue from the JDI. But if you're playing passive basses, you'd probably want a preamp before the JDI.The JDI is a little frustrating. It's DEAD SILENT and never has any hum issues. Solid as a rock. But...the low output is a little irritating. Even if you gain it up at the board, it never seems to "get there" like say the Sadowsky pre/DI did. Maybe I run the comp into that DI. also has a boost only bass and treble and volume.
