Worship Bass Pedalboards

Take a look at Rockboard.
Yes, this ^. I have a Rockboard Duo 2.1 that I use as a small travel board. I wanted a Pedaltrain but can't justify the expense. But I wanted something with a hard case. I don't travel often, maybe once every month or two, but my Rockboard has held up fantastically. I wouldn't check it like luggage on a plane, but it's more than adequate protection for any other kind of travel. Wouldn't hesitate to take it in the car or let it be thrown into a trailer.

Again, passive DI's typically lose somewhere between 15-20 dB of gain. It's just what the passive transformer design does. You can boost the signal before it so that you start with a hotter signal, but at some point you will run into the maximum signal level that the transformer can handle before distortion.
Correcting myself, as my Jensen equipped Switchcraft SC800 is rated at -23 dB Voltage Gain. So they can be reduced by more than 20 dB.

Right.

Well, maybe I'll try my Sadowsky DI. Just run the bass and treble flat so it's just an active DI...or get a Noble or REDDI. So much money but they seem to be the cats meow these days for tube/active DI's. The RNDI seems nice but it needs phantom power, right? I'm not sure if that's an issue with either of the boards I go through or not.
I mean, the LA-1A sounded great as a DI as well. If it's missing anything I didn't notice, but I haven't tried it any other way either.
Another big purchase might be a little tough right now. I'll try stuff on Sunday and see what happens.

Probably just find the cleanest Active DI you can find if the JDI, LA-1A, or Sadowsky don't work like you would like.

The only other thing with the LA-1A is the 12 volt power. Can't use my 1 Spot like I am now. I may want to look at something like a CIOKS that can handle the 12 volt and the center positive plug. Opposite of my Rolls IEM box, Boss Tuner, Sadowsky pre/DI and most any other pedal I'd use.

From everything I've read (lots of great discussions here) the RNDI is a great option - and way cheaper than a Noble or REDDI. I think the RNDI is like $270 new and for a REDDI or Noble you're north of $800. Seems like a good motivator to check if your church boards can send phantom. My experience at 3 big Atlanta area churches is that they all could - but players sometimes had to ask to have the phantom switched on at the board. (The rig I'm replacing used a Sansamp BDDI as the DI, so I never needed phantom personally).

As an aside, but DI oriented, I asked what the DI of choice was in a Sadowsky FB group recently and one of the Nashville session guys said that a group of session bassists there did a shootout a year or two ago and the Teegarden Fatboy was the running away winner. He mentioned that the REDDI and Noble weren't in the top 10 - which provoked some interesting discussion on FB. The same guy suggested the Neve RNDI - and based on Scubaduba's comments here - that certainly sounds like a path worth exploring.

I'll be interested to hear where you end up....

Yeah, I have to check with our sound guy and see about the phantom power. I'm guessing that they can, but some can't do it by channel. The price is right with the RNDI for sure. I am in no hurry to spend $750+ on an active tube DI. The only reason I'm a little leary of the RNDI is if I run into a situation where phantom power is an issue.

I'm going to try my Sadowsky again. Before I had the LA-1A we liked the way it sounded. I can only imagine the LA-1A will make anything sound even better.

The Radial Stagebug SB-1 is inexpensive, but requires phantom power. Most boards can provide phantom power.
I believe I remember @SteveC mentioning using Presonus boards, which have phantom power. Maybe the other board is the issue. There are phantom power supplies available in case you run into a situation where it's not available from the board.

Is the actual current draw of the LA-1A published? It's got 3 tubes, so steady draw could be high and I wouldn't be surprised if the in rush current is a full amp.

I believe it is around that. I'm running a Cioks DC7 with a current doubler cable (two power outputs doubling current into one) then a center positive (red inverter) cable to power the LA-1A.
