As far as effects on bass, I've had to come to terms with what I find myself using the most or wishing I had when I didn't setup pedals. It's boiled down to two drive pedals and an octave for me and I've been consistently satisfied with this setup for about a year now.

I know the Pork Loin has been around for a while, but I'm tempted to try one. Is yours original or with the JohnK mod? Does it lose low end?

This one is stock. I've been tempted to mod it but only to satisfy curiosity, it works for me as is. It does slightly lose some lows but I can only tell when in a recording environment.

Just runing This is Amazing Grace for tomorrow and notice that the bass player has his head and probably wireless in a rack on a keyboard stand behind him. That's one way to have a head as a DI.

Curious why you run both the THDI and Noble. Is it just for added EQ flexibility, AGS, or both?

I just use the Tone Hammer like an overdrive pedal. My clean tone is always just the Noble.

Mmmmm. It's a good one. I'd definitely look the user guide up online, though. I didn't like it at first until I consulted the manual and started with their "recommended settings." They're a great place to start from and it helps you understand how the controls interact better. Just twiddling knobs was getting me nowhere.

It's a great pedal. I'm pretty sure you're going to like it
I didn't find myself struggling to find settings I like (I'm probably not as selective as jacoby75), but the controls are definitely quite interactive: play around with gain, tone, depth, and blend and have fun!

Vintage Microtubes is my go to pedal for that song. Perfect IMO.

I'm still debating a VMT, even though I just got an MBD2... Which after a bit of help from others that use it I found an amazing low gain sound..

But I could use the VMT for that, and the MBD2 to bring down the hammer pimp hand on satan with mucho aggression

You guys may laugh but when I wanted grit I used (still have in a box somewhere) a Bass Big Muff i bought used for $50 at Twin Town Guitars. I have toyed with putting it back on my board with a couple other things, but there's the slippery slope. We'll see what the REDDI adds when I get it later this week.

I wouldn't laugh at that. I've still got Big Muff on my board and look forward to the rare occasion that I get to make noise with it!

Damnation Audio... another brand/pedal - like BassWitch, Red Witch, Way Huge Swollen Pickle and Camel Toe, Big Muff and Bass Balls, and several others - I'd be reeeeaaalllly squeamish about proudly displaying on my pedalboard at church. Or maybe that's just me...

IDK, I don't have anything like that. I don't really use effects. But no one sees my board but me and the band. If it sounds good and has a "questionable" name I'd go with sound I guess. Maybe another "perk" of being a "minimalist" when it comes to pedals.

It's a rabbit hole to go down... It brings in to question the ownership of many other products and the morale standards those companies have...
