Worship Bass Pedalboards

There are a lot of brands / pedal names that I wouldn't put on my board for aesthetic reasons.

Some of them, I honestly did not understand the reference...guess I'm not up-to-date on all the slang that's out there.

While I probably wouldn't personally go for a pedal with a slightly scantily clad sci-fi woman (i.e., the PDR), I'm also not as personally scandalized by it compared to some of the other things that are out there.

How often do you all use your effects? I try to think of where I'd use a filter, or octave, or drive and I really can't. Am I just lazy? A purist? I hear others using effects effectively but I can't hear myself doing it. Am I crazy?

I've found low gain overdrive to be

Yeah, I'd have to put some masking tape over the name of the pedal. I don't have any pedals with names like that right now, but I'd tape over the name if I did.

I'm still debating a VMT, even though I just got an MBD2... Which after a bit of help from others that use it I found an amazing low gain sound..

But I could use the VMT for that, and the MBD2 to bring down the hammer pimp hand on satan with mucho aggression

I was able to really utilize the Hudson Broadcast-AP yesterday morning for the song Holy Water by We The Kingdom. Added a nice (needed) drive, and not light, and fit the song perfectly. And I was able to bypass for clean tone for the rest of the songs.

Yeah, I once had a Durham Sex Drive and Wren & Cuff Phat Phuk on my board at the same time. I covered both names with black electrical tape.

Electrician's tape (black!) is a wonderful invention! Or you could get duct tape in different colors and designs if you are wild and crazy!

Gaff tape is better. Maybe look at board tape as well. Doesn't leave the residue that duct and electrician's tape does.

I don't get it. I mean, if it was something crude or crass I would--I'm not about to place a Broke Dick Peanut Gallery on my board lol--but damnation is quite Biblical and doesn't seem offensive to me. Sure, you could read Damnation Audio as "this pedal makes sounds from Hell" (and, literally, it does not--I doubt Hell sounds like overdriven harmonics), but for me that is subordinate to several other things:

1. the pedal is being used to facilitate worship, and there is no more sacred purpose (and the Bible is full of God using imperfect tools to accomplish His will)
2. theologically speaking, damnation is part of the system God established so, while it's not something positive for the damned, in-and-of-itself it has no moral valence
3. nothing about the pedal is glorifying anything infernal or profane
4. the name on the MBD-2 is hardly very prominent so it's not about to stumble anyone who glances at your board

For praise and worship-Knuckle Quake active 5 string, Line 6-G 10 to the board. If I need some girth a "touch" of Akai analog delay and a bit of MXR compression, but in general, straight in.

I have a ton of pedals and a B3N multieffects, but, less is more.

I need to pay better attention! The MBD2 is some serious stuff!! You could really lay some smack down with that one.

Hahahah. And that's why I have the MicroSynth, dUg, and VMT pedals for different grit! I saw a Swollen Pickle used this weekend at GC for like 30 bucks, but like others have said since, I'd have to tape over it or something.

I agree. Even with the 'Depth' knob at zero, you can get plenty of low end by just using the Clean blend.

Yes!! Once I reached out to a couple of guys that have, or have had it, to get the sample settings sheet(mine didn't come with one) I was quickly able to find something I REALLY like...

I wanted my bass sound (Lakland Skyline Duck Dunn) only dirtier..
And the MBD2 does it easily, in spades!

And as @MascisMan said, it's still super full, and tons of girth, so stinkin ' thick with the Depth rolled all the way off...
And I just barely have the clean turned up...

It shakes my whole house... and that through a single Mesa Subway 112...it's meatier than a butcher shop

If you just barely crack the Gain, it's a tastey slightly hairy... but such a great tone shaper as well... SO THICK!!
I couldn't stop playing and smiling..

Love this! Didn't think about it this way. And you're right, the company is most definitely not prevalent on the pedal... it's written pretty small, and at the bottom of the pedal

I put a riff recorder on my board last night to be able to have a drone pad on command. I'll be using it for the first time this Friday and if I notice any hiccups between the iPhone app and the pedal, I'll switch to the ditto+. I believe the ditto plus lets you scroll through programed recordings. I kind of hate that it only has an hour of recording time though. I would like a ten minute drone recording in each key, but there isn't enough memory in the ditto plus. The riff recorder has 8 hours of recording, but I have to scroll through the recording via bluetooth on my phone.

I caved and got the Microsynth to go full "Bethel".

This setup is all I really see myself needing. Mixes are so dense now that there's no room for fancy modulation, reverbs, delays, etc. Never was a fan of that stuff anyways. Tone Hammer with AGS makes a great tube-like, responsive, 1st stage, "always-on" drive and then the MicroSynth lets you really push hard if things really get built up when keys, synths, and 2 electric guitars are going at it.
