That's awesome man! Two boards would be sweet. I'm trying to squeeze all my needs (clean, rock & synth tones) on one board but it's a pretty tight squeeze & I'd like to add more but I've pretty much run out of space. I've had my eye on that Meatsmoke for a while. I saw your killer set up a couple pages back. Are you running the Meatsmoke at the beginning or end of your signal chain?

I run it at the very end right before my Enabler. I figured I would use it just like an amp, and the Enabler splits the signal to my amp (if I'm using one) and the DI. We mostly run straight to the board at my church, so I don't bring my amp along much. It has been great so far, and I have gotten a lot of compliments on how it sounds. You know you're doing great when random people from service come up and compliment the bass player.

Got it. That's what I figured. I'm in a all IEM setting also with no amp on stage. We've got 18' subs under the stage the so the bass can most definitely be felt. I'm just always trying to improve on what I hear in my ears. That's awesome man! Keep pushing forward!

Here is mine, small but it is all I need: Tunner>microtube for light overdrive > chorus for the slow songs or pray time > tone hammer for eq and DI, a presonus compressor is at the mix board. Basses Jazz active, Stingray, Bongo, P and Warwick Corvette.

It fits but you cant plug the cables, it can be done if you drill holes in the bars

Compressor only so far, but Octave or Chorus might sound good sometimes.

Also thinking about getting a separate direct box as an alternate to amp xlr - maybe Radial JDI - something nice but cheaper and smaller than a REDDI.

The JDI is very good and you can usually find an affordable used one here in the TB Classifieds

As an alternative somewhere between the JDI and the REDDI, I'd highly recommend the Neve RNDI. The JDI is a really nice unit (really can't go wrong with it), but once I played through an RNDI, my JDI immediately went to the classifieds.

When a friend brought one for me to play through, I was convinced I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between my JDI. "Sure it has Neve transformers in it, but my JDI has transformers too - same thing." But doing an A/B test, it was immediately apparent...the RNDI was just richer and sweeter, yet still very articulate and pristine. Maybe part of that has something to do with the fact that it's active, I don't know. I think it's just adding a lot of subtle harmonic content that seems to make everything shiny and 3D-like.

That may not be the greatest description - I don't always know how to put into words some of those very subtle qualities - but there was a distinct difference in what was coming through our IEMs. I had always thought after my JDI I'd eventually splurge for a REDDI, but now I feel like I'm already getting out of the RNDI what I would've hoped to get from a REDDI...and in a much more convenient package.

How do you like the Two Notes Torpedo? I am really GASing hard for one for a while now, as I love my Meatsmoke sound and my board, but at church we go direct to board, and I'd love that kind of versatility to get a great sound out.

Do you play direct to the board? Does it make as much of a difference as I'd think it makes?

I go direct to the board, but I have an amp for monitoring at the church stage. The Torpedo is very similar to the Kemper. Dial in the sound that you want, and it sounds very different. Like having different rigs.. It sounds realistic. I have a DHA and a Noble preamp on order, so will use it to fatten the sound. So you may still want to use the Meatsmoke. I've not put on the reverb pedal, but it is essential for me to add just a little to give the sound some air.

This is a great board. I've never played through the Grizzly but the looks are killer.

The Grizzly is superb, not sure why it is not as popular as I thought it would be. My Sansamp VT Bass is retired. No comparison.

Awesome thanks. My Meatsmoke is the preamp pedal, so that's why I was thinking of running that into the Torpedo. Get that amazing tube rig sound, while going straight to the board. That is a really interesting box.

A Reddi is on the way to complement my Kemper for home use. Think you will like the Two Notes. Not as digital sounding as the Kemper to my ears, and with the tube pre-amp, heavenly sounding.
