Used Source Audio Aftershock could be around that price. Flip the toggle and you can go from a mild dirt to distortion to fuzz. Or set any of the presets for whatever dirt you dig.

There's a ton of them in that range. I've always been a big fan of the amptweaker tight drive, fuzzrocius demon ( kid painted ) if you can't find a kid painted one then be ready to tape it up or paint over it.
Lots of people like the OCD, the blueberry, a used VMT or B3k if you can deal with the mid cut

The TC Spark (full-sized) is a hidden gem in that category of pushed tube amp overdrive. My all-time favorite is the Broughton SVPre. It does a very convincing slightly or highly pushed SVT stack. It's a desert island pedal for me.

Used Source Audio Aftershock could be around that price. Flip the toggle and you can go from a mild dirt to distortion to fuzz. Or set any of the presets for whatever dirt you dig.

And a minor "life hack" regarding the Aftershock.

You don't have to buy the "Aftershock." If you can find a Kingmaker Fuzz or an LA Lady for cheaper (than an Aftershock) used you can also grab one of those. All three of these pedals can be loaded with both the factory Aftershock presets and the Neuro community presets from the app. They are all the same pedal but with different enclosures essentially.

I am currently using a Kingmaker fuzz (with a mix of Aftershock and Neuro community presets). I got my KM used for $100 from Guitar Center.

Here's the board for this weekend! Need to get something on there soon for a lighter drive setting somewhere between the not so clean "clean" of the super vintage and the full dirt of the rattler. Anyone got any recommendations?

For $150 I recommend in alphabetical order:

• Broughton Scorpion (lots of tones, very flexible)
• Damnation Audio MBD-2 (wonderful overdrive despite technically a distortion; fantastic low-passed clean blend)
• Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop v2 (warm and tube-like tone; sag feature is cool)
• Fuzzrocious Dark Driving v3 (now in a 125B size!)
• Fuzzrocious Li'l Fella (very compressed sound, does any level of drive you need and stacks well)
  
• Spaceman Saturn VI (warm and full tone, best for low-gain overdrive)

do you find the source audio to sound digital at all? I went through the helix phase for a while and never did love the drives there which led me back to analog. I love how the origin and jam stuff sounds pretty 3 dimensional and I've looked at the aftershock off and on but the digital thing stopped me so far.

I have loved it. It doesn't have a digital sound at all. I was wary for a very long while, but I'm glad I went for it. It also greatly limits GAS. Instead of buying something I see/hear on YouTube, I just see if I can recreate it. If not the aftershock, then the Ultrawave can do it.

I've seen several pop used here but finding demos is apparently as hard as finding the pedals themselves. I've seen a couple of the others out there and will research the Saturn more as well.

I've seen several pop used here but finding demos is apparently as hard as finding the pedals themselves. I've seen a couple of the others out there and will research the Saturn more as well.

The Scorpion has so many different sounds that these only present a small window of what it can do. The only way to really know if it's for you is to buy a used one and try it with your gear. So long as you buy used and are smart about it, you should be able to get your money back. If you lose a little on shipping, that's just the cost of knowledge

Gah! How did I forget about the Scorpion?! Yes, the Broughton SVPre is my favorite for that fingerstyle warm, fat, pushed tube amp ala blues, classic rock, etc. But Scorpion absolutely slays when playing with a pick. I love to kick that puppy on for the Phil Wickham stuff, and anything with a pick.

My origin effects super vintage was pretty noisy and a friend loaned me his mxr power brick. Still noisy but not as bad. All I'm using is an hx effects into an mxr bass compressor into the super vintage. I've been told that the super vintage and hx both have issues playing well with others. So I'm thinking of getting either a voodoo lab pedal power x4 or a stryman ojai 5
Neither of them will power the hx I know I will still need to use the supplied cord for it into the outlet. Any advice or suggestions?
