Indeed. I'm going to be swapping over to expression once I get my midi setup together. For now, I didn't want to lose a footswitch or use the send/return for it.

Feeling a bit defeated this morning. I am guessing it was just a bad instrument or XLR cable, but for the first time in a long time I had a noticeable buzz coming from my rig. Noise gate took care of it, but it was distracting me the whole time. It wasn't said this time, but any time there has been any kind of issue with the bass sound, the first thing people suggest is just going direct. Even when the last time it was legitimately our sound guy plugging me in to the wrong channel on the snake.
I was due for updating my HX Stomp anyway, but I guess today is going to be downsizing to eliminate potential issues.

I feel your pain. Anytime I set up at our satellite campus (bass->Stomp->Khan->FOH) there is always something that has to be fixed on the board from the last guy. But every time, “It must be something with your bass or rig.” A few minutes later they seem to find what was wrong with the board and suddenly everything is as it should be. I had to research the manual for the old board to tell them how to hook me up to a line level input so my Khan output wasn’t blowing them up. Hang in there, you’re not alone.
Quick question for you and anyone else running a Khan VTDI with pedals in front of it. Are you using the whole pad or the -6db option?
At rehearsal Monday, I started out with the whole pad.
And at some point (maybe before Thursday's service), I chose the -6db option (which I also used this morning). Seems better to my ears.
Who knows, the next time I might use the whole pad.

Depends on who’s running the soundboard. If they know how to use their end I can use the whole thing. If not, I have to use the -6 and put a -10 on the Stomp output. I start full and if they can’t keep me from overdriving their system I apply pads as needed.
I’ve been using the -6db option since I got it, because reading the website, Obeid stated that if using an active bass and boasting the EQ, one could damage the pad. I Figured pedals were kinda the same thing, but obviously the impedance is different…

Not sure what the Active bass has to do with it other than the Active Bass is hotter on the input. The -6db pad switch applies to the DI output is my understanding. Kind of like the -20db switch on some DI boxes. The Khan send a low line level output and has to be compensated for at the soundboard and not sent through a channel mic preamp on the board.
You got me curious so I went to the website again. The features list reads like the pad is in the input for active instruments like you said. I am not sure. Can you point me to where you found the part about it might get damaged?
Also, I guess in my use case I am going through the Stomp before I go to the Khan. The Stomp is outputting an Instrument level so I don’t think I am risking damaging the Khan.
Well the pedal power x4 didn't totally get rid of the hum but it quietened it down tremendously. I think the tiny bit left is digital hum from the HX
No hum from mine at all. I have had hum from my overall rig if I am in a particularly noisy room, like led lights or something, but I think that is from my bass not the Stomp.
Since I'm pretty much running the same setup as you... I wanted 4 foot length XLR cables for my silent stage rig, so I bought a cheap 4 pack of DMX cables... all 4 were noisy compared to my 20 foot length XLR cable... which was silent. Good thing I bought them from Amazon... clicked the return button, and dropped them off at Kohls. Few hours later, I got my refund, and I spent a little more for a 2 pack XLR cables with better quality connectors. Got them the next day, and it was clean and silent. Only other time I had noise was a bad power cable when I daisy chained pedals... which is one of the reason why I was inclined to reduce pedals and purchase an HX Stomp, and an ISO power supply.

It only happens at church. Never at home. I'm right in front of a 40ft led screen and when the hx isn't on the board it doesn't do it so my assumption is it's the HX but I'm definitely no expert
If you're right in front of a 40ft LED screen (and can't move away), I don't think you can solve this problem.
I wanted to elaborate on this box. If anyone is looking for an "all-in-one" IEM solution, this might be it. I tried it on Sunday on a whim, and was absolutely blown away by the tone I got, and the ease of use. The Element has an internal signal chain, that allows for a Noise Reducer, a Power Amp sim (Bass or Guitar), Speaker Sim (many to choose from, or add your own), Microphone Sim (again, many to choose from) with placement, and two six band EQ's to choose from (Darkglass version, and a more "normal" version). It even has an onboard tuner/mute. The only thing missing for me was a compressor, but I did not miss this at all.
Long story "short", my tone out front, and through the IE's was amazing! DI was very clean (no complaints from the sound crew!), and I was very happy!
