I think so too… this sounds good to me so far, but only been messing with it at home.

I really do like simple set ups, for a long time it was a keeley bassist and a Sansamp and honestly, that worked great for me. I’ve had the Sansamp bddi v2 pumping in my ears for so long I’m curious to see what this sounds like in a mix with everyone else

Yessir. And it still IS good.

I’m playing at another church tomorrow so I’m going to drop the Sansamp off on my way past my home church to let my friend try it since shes never used anything like it before and normally just plugs straight into whatever old cheap DI is there.

Ahhh I remember the good ol’ days when I just had a tuner and Sansamp and it worked so well.

Now all these people have to make me want synth or octave effects. Sighhhhh

Brought it back to basics today. Tuner, Empress Comp, Stomp. Plugged in a P bass through the Fender Bassman model and called it a day.

Still had the rest of the stuff on my board because I'm too lazy to pull anything off, but it remains off. Bringing into perspective the want for everything else on the board is stuff that'll likely never see use.

I definitely find myself going P>Cali76CB>Oracle more often than not in my group. It just sounds great.

I also went "clean" today with the fretless. If Studio Boost > Omnicomp > L/Hpf > SLO can be considered clean? I love effects, but a killer clean tone can't be beat.

Well I only used it once a so far but keeping it set on the EQ mode with the drive about 2 o clock I get some dirt when I dig in and that, paired with the cali76 and khan vtdi the stingray sounded great today. Probably the most compliments I received on tone… everyone said “whoa, the bass sounds good” the drummer even said it in one of the drum mics during sound check.

that was kinda odd to me as no one knew about any of it. It sounded good in my 4x10 cab at home but live with a full band I was pleasantly surprised. It put a smile on my face for sure.

Here’s my “direct in” board. AB/Y pedal toggles between wireless in or direct wired in. From there, Empress compressor > Broughton SV-Pre > Keeley Seafoam chorus > BBE > Broughton Messenger preamp - wonderful gain boost and DI. Really great to go straight into the board - we’re all IEMs and it sounds great! Bass is a Sadowsky RV5 PJ.

Rounds. Though I do have some GHS Pressurewounds lined up to try. I understand that they reduce finger noise whilst still being more a round than a flat, but a bit more smoothness than regular rounds, kind of like a slightly worn in round, without that harsh zing you get with new rounds. Very curious to try these

I've got a p-tone in the neck in my avatar pick. So that kinda makes it a P-bass.

I use & like the GHS Pressurewounds. They bridge the gap between flats and rounds. I still do get some string noise if I'm not careful sliding around.

Lb-100 with flats usually but like the bite i never expected from tapes! I think it’s probably that they are more flexible so have some treble available that isn’t in my LaBella DTFs (no joke, right lol.). These are Daddy Rio Black tapes. Because my daughter hates when I mispronounce any word intentionally.

Here’s the board for this weekend! Need to get something on there soon for a lighter drive setting somewhere between the not so clean “clean” of the super vintage and the full dirt of the rattler. Anyone got any recommendations?
