The Element is a fantastic piece of kit. It functions as a noise gate, amp sim, cab sim, IR loader, EQ, DI, headphone amp, and has a Bluetooth Aux-in.

One of the stock cab sims is my favorite cab sim ever (Mega Meld), but there are tons of others to choose from, as well as tons of mics & placement options. And you can load your own if you want.

It's easily one of my most indispensable pieces of gear aside from my bass and a quality compressor.

I found that the settings I used on this board were very different from what I was running on my other board, and I'm now actually rethinking the other boards signal chain as I found the Capo easier to dial in tonight.

Tuner > Octabvre > LA-1A > Capo > Empress Comp > Doom 2 > XD > FFXL > (LVX > MercuryX > Walrus Canvas Stereo DI) > FFXL > Broughton RFE > Sushi Box More > Element

The Empress, RFE, More, & Canvas are under the board.

I just used the In & Out on the Capo so It would be a quick swap in tonight (forgive the sloppy placement... I tried to fix it before the photo but the baby was sleeping and the rip of the Velcro was causing her to stir), but I can see benefit in using the loops down the road. The board currently sends three DI's to FOH (Wet/Dry/Wet) but everything was summed to mono for tonight's experimentation. In the future I can see a potential for running 4 DI's when recording... But that's another topic entirely.

The below settings produced absolutely fantastic Clean, Saturated, Drive, & pushed drive tones. It covers every possible need I have in a worship context & serves just as well for my needs in my Post Rock/Prog projects. When I used the Capo in conjunction with my synth bass signal chain, I found it to be extremely dynamic and allowed me to dial in multiple perfect Moog-esque tones.

Between the LA-1A & the Capo I was able to remove 6-7 other pedals that I was previously stacking to achieve similar results (SBM, DCX, Pettyjohn Lift, PC-2A & 2-3 Drives depending on the set). This requires less tap dancing & produces a superior sound on all counts.

Man I would love to try those Meris boxes. I picked up a Timeline and Mobius a few weeks ago. All they need is the Big Sky to join the club. Awesome board brother! I bet it sounds amazing.

And my Capo can't get here fast enough!

In the near-ish future that may actually be an easier proposition that it is right now...

And yea, it sounds pretty darn amazing. The Meris stuff blows Strymon out of the water, IMO.

I'm personally not a fan of cab sims for the most part… unless you need to nail a very specific sound. Seems like they cause more trouble than help most times. Just my $0.015

For the most part I am not a fan of Cab Sims, however the Mega Meld IR on the Darkglass Element is a capture of several different cabs
that has been amalgamated into the best sounding Bass Cab IR I've ever heard. It was captured by Adam 'Nolly' Getgood, who is well known in the Prog/Djent/Metal community and one of the foremost producers (and Bass players) in the genre.

While the music he's known for may not be your cup of tea, I can assure you that AG knows what he is doing & his IR capture works in every context I've used it in. Country, Modern Worship, Prog/Post Rock, Funk, Experimental Jazz.

It's the bees knees. :thumbsup:

The Nolly part was how I learned about the Element. Wanting a practice tool that could stay on my board has been a thing for a while too. Annoyed with running everything through my Zoom B1Four (which IS a great practice tool but I'm trying to minimize cables and cords) is what kept it top of mind. But seeing it on your board and reading your use cases just made me pull the trigger lol. Found a decent deal on the verb so we'll see!

I just sold my spare THDI to a friend that has a 70's era hand-wired Marshall Bass rig. He is very happy with the THDI for all his gigs where he doesn't want to lug the big stack.

I use my THDI at the end of my signal chain. It allows a little quick tweaking for the venue.
