The dcx was just really redundant, sold it.

Sold my way huge Pork and Pickle.

If I ever start gigging again outside of church Ill just bring my mini board and load a few of these on there.

I dig it. What pedal for you made the DCX Redundant? Or is the Stomp providing a similar effect? I'll have an Oracle inbound in August, and then I've seen some people say their Oracle made the Effectrode PC-2A redundant. So I've been thinking of trying the CB Bass out myself.

Basically any of my drive pedals made it redundant and for me, it never really made anything sound better. I liked the drive in it but I like the yyz drive better. I also like the Tonehammer drive better.

This is a quick demo i made playing along to some robert palmer a few days ago and the chain is cali76, hx stomp, very minimal eq and "end of chain" compression, arkham Oracle. I feel like this sounds good and is more than suitable for my needs. In fact this is close to being perfect to me.



Side note: My hands a fairly dark, I've learned to live with it, but this setup is pretty even and punchy with clarity.

Worship bassists typically just use it for an elaborate fuzz that I can easily get out of my Stomp + compressor. I think it is the most overrated worship bass pedal. Don't get me wrong - it's a great pedal in general. But I don't really see the value in it for worship bass.

First draft of a larger board. I really do prefer the 12"-18" board size but rearranging it week to week depending on songs or just wanting to mix it up was getting to be a pain. I could do it without the stomp, but I can't get by without it's synth and detune for songs in D.

Side note: an octave mix from the stomp going into the Albatross which itself is a blend of fet and germanium drives is the closest I've gotten to the micro synth and the albatross makes a great drive in general, especially with rounds.

I need to get the subsonic to the bottom row and going to put the VMT and Albatross on separate fx loops.

Looking good.
I went through a big shootout, and didn't really end up too far from where I started.

After borrowing, trading and buying a bunch of different preamps, comps and ODs, this was from last Sunday:

There were some updates, but the core is still the Cali76 (newer version) and Noble.
There was a several month period when I had a bigger board with chorus and multiple drives. But, this board covers a lot of ground. And I don't really need the octave pedal as much since I got the Moog. I can't say that I won't go bigger again, but for now, I'm liking this board.

I'm really liking the quad cortex paired with simple volume pedal for bass. I did mount the dc7 under the metro 16 and I'm using that to power the QC now. The sounds in this machine are phenomenal. I've never experienced an analog octave that will track as low and as clean as the QC.

But… I still love the hx stomp as a bass rig, and I don't plan on getting rid of mine anytime soon.

Yeah, I can see a Stomp having a powerful synth section. I was getting decent sounds with my pedal board. One thing I like with the Moog is being able to manipulate the sounds with my free hand. Filter sweeps, octave drops, ASDR of the filter and the amp, wave forms, etc. I also like the usable range on it. Things like that. It is an extra few steps to set it up. But, usually it's me, the WL and the sound crew waiting for the rest of the team to arrive. I was thinking about leaving the synth at the church, but it's only like 15 lbs. So, it's manageable.
I'm sure some will remember that I had pretty bad Stomp GAS a few months ago (not sure how I beat that one---there is hope....haha). It would be cool to have a second board with just the Stomp and Tone Hammer. I could use that when I need other effects for a particular service. We'll see.
