Not the iRig but I've used an apogee jam for the same reasons. What are you planning to use to play through and record? I've used the positive grid family with jamup (has multi track recording capability) and BIAS amps on my phone. Toss in BIAS Fx on the iPad (no recording or iPhone but some very nice features). They are others out there but these are what I've used.

I wanna try out the effects with my amp. I also want to record myself. With my PC being down until further notice, this was my best option.

Sounds good. I have a used VTDI on the way and will have a good play around with both this and the M80 and keep whichever I like best. I'll probably play the VTDI fairly clean. What do you do with the bite switch (seen a few people like to disengage it to reduce clank) and speaker sim defeat? I am highly unlikely to really crank the OD settings but it's nice to know there are options if I do want to use it, especially at home.

Jam XT worked for me with BIAS amp

just got it all assembled today with new additions. love it. does what I need.
sadly, in a month, our drummer and family are moving to Indonesia for full time missions work. Sadly, I am the only other usable drummer, so I am going to be filling that role until another one shows up! Got my board done, and it's just gonna sit for a while. :(

I think I'm going to try to get my synth sound via pedals for the secular band. I just don't want to buy a $500 keyboard that I'd only use for that. At least with pedals I can still be a bass player and use them in other situations where with the synth I'm learning keyboard skills, how to edit all those patches and parameters. Pedals will cost the same but at least it's not so foreign and complex as a synth with all the generators and switches and stuff.

Future Impact. Doesn't really save you money over the $500 keyboard, but sounds amazing and lets you play bass. :D

After looking and reading and thinking, I may go synth instead. I don't use effects otherwise and I can just make presets on a synth and not have to redo setting on pedals. And really, a synth is less gear than a bigger pedal board. And, brushing up on keyboard skills may not be bad. Rethinking your approach (like playing a 4 instead of a 6) never hurts, either. Maybe it'll spur some new stuff for me.

I can get a new Bass Station locally for $350. Not bad. Real size keys, not the mini keys like some others.

Got the Dr J sparrow on my IEM board last night. Ran it into a Powered wedge to try and see how it would sound thru FOH. It certainly can have the top end sizzle and scoop I remember from the BDDI, but the Mix knob certainly helps when trying to find your tone. Ran my P5 into it and the setting you see in the pic are around about where I will start from going forward. I did like how quiet it was. Essentially no hiss what so ever. Impressive. I like the grit of the American Sound far more, but I am not intending to use this for that. This thing has gobs of bottom end. actually rolled it off a little!

So, I haven't posted here yet, but I've been watching for a while. I'm playing at a church tomorrow and threw together a small pedalboard, basic stuff, compressor > OC-2 > Harmonic Booster > OD dirt > Fuzz > Modulation > RNDI.

I love playing at churches because the newer songs have such driving bass, and a little dirt sounds killer in the mix. I've even used some synth effects at times, but this week the songs don't call for it. Anyway, just thought I'd share!
