How do you like the J Rockett Archer for bass?
Actually, it's a John K (Kallas) klon clone voiced for bass, a one off, KlonKlone
It sounds great, I think it's my new favorite dirt!
VTDI has arrived. Will not have time to practice before Sunday. Any good settings to start off at? Was thinking of just dialling in the SVT suggestion for now. . .
I always liked the SVT setting
I would start with the bass, mids, and treble at noon, put the gain pretty low and then adjust the character to your liking. I prefer it from 8 - 11 o clock, but your tastes may differ. I think I prefer the sound of mine (using the DI out) with the speaker sim engaged and the bite button disengaged. Though to be honest I couldn't tell much of a difference with either of them on/off.
I found the speaker sim on mine to be noisy in the studio. Not really an issue live but not usable when recording.
How do you like that mxr pre? I've been thinking of getting one to replace my sansamp
I love it. And for me its a keeper.
It's clean , no dist, no noise. And thickens out my sound exactly how I like it.
I also use it on my guitar pedalboard when playing acoustic guitar. Sounds very good direct into PA.
Works excellent and is a good baseline.
Not be confused with a great bass line...

The new improved OFFICE this morning. Little board. Picked up the Dirty Robot yesterday and added the '78 Distortion behind it for some grind and sustain. Messed with it enough last night to get a pretty subtle grindy synth with chorus and a touch of Reverb thrown in. Dialed that to have full sustained bottom on our version of In Christ Alone.
Been playing straight into a DI for the past few years and looking to start getting some effects. Looking to start with a good OD/Preamp/both. We play mostly Hillsong, Bethel/JC, Elevation and Planetshakers. Any suggestions?
I've been using the VTDI for about 2 years now mostly on the SVT Settings. I was using my TC Electronics RH450 head before but I got to be a bit much packing it out with my big board I was using. It's just a bit more simplified now.
It was nice having the 3 different EQ setting on the head though.
Thinking of replacing my VT Bass with an M81 as the VT is too noisy. You find that MXR to be quiet...as in no hiss...nothing? Cool.
Love your George L's connector covers.. the color coding to match the pedals is very nice
I personally use the VT bass DI. Works pretty well for my needs and have no real complaints to warrant a change. I've heard good things about the MXR M81 and M80. From what I've heard and read, the m81 works best as a clean transparent preamp, whereas the m80 is more of a blend between a preamp and OD pedal, since it has a separate distortion channel you can add in when you want. Also, If I could find a cheap Tone Hammer, I'd love to try one out.
Yes. It's pretty straight forward with a good eq. No hiss or hum or anything.
And because of that I use it with my acoustic guitar, jack going to amp and xlr to PA.
Great. I use my VT Bass primarily as a pre with very little Character or Drive added. I just grabbed an MXR M81 from the TB Classifieds.
