So, VTDI on SVT setting. . . This seems somewhat noisy, almost scratchy. Is this something that happens with new strings, playing through such a box with said settings? Just put some Roto 66 Nickels on and pretty much had to turn the Blend / Character / Drive fully CCW to remove this scratchy clank! I know strings are a whole topic of their own, but I notice a lot of people like Flats for worship. I've never tried them. Might flats sound better through a VDTI in terms of worship playing?
I think I'll try it next time with just some minor EQ tweaks and no cab sim circuitry. Perhaps it's just me and the Sansamp sound doesn't do it for me, or maybe try some of the other suggested settings. At least I should have some time to fiddle this week

I use a VT Bass deluxe, and tried the SVT setting, and it is really quite scooped with glassy highs. Whichever of the suggested settings you try, use them as a starting point, not a rigid setting that can't be changed If the highs are too much, turn them down etc. If I recall there was a tube setting? I liked that as a starting point. I found that I liked to find what I wanted with the drive around 9 o'clock, eq flat, and then move the character knob around till I found a good starting point then eq to taste. Remember, those suggested settings, might have a p Bass in mind, you could be playing an active Bass with lots of tops. Even an SVT has an eq on it so you can dial in your tone.

Lol. I knew someone would ask me that. I'm still trying to figure it out. Perhaps some may give me advice.
It sounds good when I play on the d and g strings. Gets low and gives a keyboard synth type bass sound. But when I go on a Or especially the e string it distorts a bit and I can hear it trying to grab the 2 notes but usually pushes the higher octave.
I've used it on slower songs where not much movement and typically on the final chorus where the song is super big.

That's basically how I'm using it to. But I turn the octave all the way to the left (off). And the run the sub at 3:00 and low at 10:00.
Does that "clean" it up a bit?

I found octave pedals work well on the upper register of notes on the bass, but most have issues tracking on the E and A string. I gave up on using octave pedals, I have my modded Boss GEB-7 that's set to boost my EQ for a fatter deeper bass sound. The mole is another option.
I've really been getting into the synth stuff lately. I've been using a synth setting on about one song per set lately, usually something like an Elevation song. I just heard via Juan Aldrete that the Meatbox reisuues are close to gone and that's the last run ever...yikes might have to grab one quick!
My go-to synth sound is an OC-2 with the 1st sub octave solo'ed. Tim Lefabvre style.
I have been rocking this for a few weeks and totally digging it. The Le Bass is a life changer and so much better than the VT Bass DI that I used for quite some time. I feel like I have more options than I need and just am blown away by all I can do with this board. I am a super happy worshippers and bass player.
Today I modded my ODB-3 to Wampler specs, except for the low mids cap change. Not impressed at all... my ears must be weird.
I miss the "shrill highs", they gave my p bass attack attitude and bite when picking. The distortion does sound smoother but it the LEDs sounded better to me. I also tried germanium diodes just for fun and it sounded nice, albeit 'limited'. The pedal sounds like it'd need some modification to better voice the germanium diodes.
Most notable, but pleasant modification I did was swap the C1 cap for a 1 uF. I searched it out from the forum. Adjust the high pass filter to allow more bass frequencies to flow through.

You using the cab sim on the DI. I found it very dark and not not nice sounding IMO.
I wasn't that impressed with the LeBass but it's a lot of pedal for the money.
I do use the cab sim on the Le Bass but I also have a few things contributing the that decision. I like darker tones, I play an EBMM Bongo most of the time which is brighter, and I boost the highs a little on channel A. Our sound guy ends up sculpting the sound a bit more back at the board too.
How are you enjoying the Firefly? The cost is too prohibitive for me but I would love to hear what others think about it?
