So far very impressed. It adds some good warmth to the tone. The power at my church is really goofy and I get a buzz most the time when using multiple pedals. I got one when I first plugged it in and hit a switch on the back, my signal became so quiet. No buzz, hum, or hiss. The drag control is great and the high pass is pretty good too for cleaning up my signal.

I've only scratched the surface with its features but so far very happy with my purchase. Can't wait to play again next Sunday.

Very cool! Thank you for responding. I just saw or read a recent rig rundown where a fairly well known bassist was using one as part of his main gig but I can't remember who it was?

Here's my new board. Replaced a mini spark booster, and VT bass DI with the new Ictineo preamp. Everything sounded clear last night at practice. Was my first time with the new pedal and was a tad nervous since we had a service for our church planting week before practice, and so wasn't quite sure how everything would sound, but I was astonished at how loud, clear and defined my signal was. Looking forward to this Sunday!

Its the blue pedal in the bottom left, with the submarine design on it. Its a great sounding preamp/tone shaping pedal. It's made by the guys of Southampton Pedals, from here on TB.

It's a clone of the infamous, and super rare Ziebek Submarine Designer. Long story behind the creator at Ziebek which you can find if you google around. The Submarine adds something magical to the signal chain. One you have one and turn it on, you probably won't ever stomp the box again to turn it off.

So I've been a vt bass Di guy for a few years now. I enjoy the more rock-centric voice it can add to my tone at church.

But of late I've had a hankering more something more modern/hi fi/clean.

For those of you who have moved on from vt bass products- what did you move to, and why?

Well, yes...but, I made an assumption that it might be one of the few stores in his area, and he'd want to keep good relations there. Big box store...no problem!

I pretty much haven't played bass in 2 years but recently started attending a new church which has gotten me back into playing again! I decided to get my pedalboard sorted but I haven't used anything but the tuner until now. I'll be using th SubBlaster and Bass Drive for the first time on "The Great I am" for our Easter service.

One option could be to just DI using a DI box. If you are after a cleaner hi fi tone that says you may just want to hear your bass as is.

If you want some eq the MXR M81 is a good hit or pick up a used enabler.

If your budget allows a noble is a higher end option.

The noble certainly does look beautiful, but take the US $ value and effectively double it to find what it costs to get it to another hemisphere.

The m81 definitely looks great- been on the radar for a while!

Another option that a local retailer has ate great price at the moment is the Mesa subway preamp/DI.

OR the new sadowsky sbp-2.
