Interested to hear if any of you guys are using a Fairfield Circuitry Modele B in your IEM only set ups? Assuming it would send a nice tube tone to IEM and FOH?

While pedals are cool and fun (octave and filter make for some interesting and fairly useful sounds) I don't see my main bass tone - bass to JDI to FOH/IEM - changing much. Even in the rock tunes, with distorted guitar and keys I find its best to just keep a solid, clean foundation. The tunes where I'd use a "synth" tone are all synth and if there's regular bass, it's straight ahead bass. I'm thinking again that maybe it's best to just use a synth for any "altered" bass lines and keep my bass clean for the rest.
So I left compression of my board. Tried the TC Spectracomp but didn't like the sound, and as I played the last couple gigs wopithout one, I figured I'll stay with my simple and straight forward set up for my bass: Roscoe 6 --> BossTU-2 --> Radial JDI. Rolls PM50S and my Westone UM-2 earbuds for monitoring.
For the secular band I'm gonna use the Novation Bass Station for synth and other altered bass lines. Who knows, maybe it'll work its way to church as well.

Board was hissing pretty badly Thursday at rehearsal. Sound man is not real happy with me right now. It's pretty quiet at home. Picked up anouther OneSpot to split up power. Figured I'd try that.
First outing in church with the Noble this morning. Interested to see how it plays with my Piezo Godin.
I use a simple set up most of the time as well. Just pitch black into a JDI. However, last night I switched out the JDI for an RNDI and was stunned by the difference. It sounded great. I am really pleased. A lot more over all clarity. It was not a subtle difference.

Had a weird droning noise when muted. Had to turn the amp off

I recently "saw the light" with regards to effects and I remembered our posts about whether or not to use effects.
I've reduced my pedalboard down to 3 pedals. I've removed the Markbass Super Synth, the Source Audio Soundblox2 OFD, and the EHX BSF (absolute waste). I'm only using the Boss ODB-3 to MXR M87 Comp to the Aguilar Tone Hammer Pre/DI.
I praise God that I'm finally getting the sound I've been looking for, the light grit dirt overdrive sound, from my ODB-3. I used it this weekend with my new Squier VM P BASS V, we played Never Stop (our rock rendition) and it was heaven on earth! Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. i wish I could record it!
I want to get a programmable (not Source Audio) EQ pedal so I can switch between a couple of EQ profiles. I find myself constantly having to squat and make last minute adjustments to the tone hammer and I'm getting annoyed with it.
I was originally attempting to approach a way of generating synth tones from my bass. I came to realize that what I was aiming for was beyond the scope of our teams current production; we don't have a keyboard player/synth player.
Well, I'm gonna try something besides just going straight into a DI box. No amps on stage, so I've just been going direct to the board...Yamaha M7CL and then monitoring through an Aviom setup. Sound guys have been happy and I've been happy because I love the sound of my bass (P-bass w/Dimarzio Model P pickup). As much as I've gotten used to in-ears, I still love the sound of a good amp, so I thought I'd take some stuff I have laying around and try to put it to use to create more of a tube amp vibe for going to FOH. I messed around with settings and got things dialed in pretty well and then had another bass player check it out and I fired up the PA. So, now tomorrow will be the real proof at rehearsal and getting another sound guy's opinion between the direct and the effected signal chain.
So, pedal order is Korg tuner -> [sfx] preamp (mainly for the buffering effect it provides...3.3 mega-ohms...closest thing I've heard to an Avalon U5) -> [sfx] EQ (using as a mid-boost to bring out fingerstyle articulation) -> Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone (provides parallel compression and just a touch of dirt) -> Electronix Submarine (adds some wooliness to the sound and rounds it out).
I am happiest with ALL of these pedals engaged and they're each just doing a slight bit of work. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. And, I do have some extra EQ and volume flexibility in this setup to be able to quickly adjust levels to work with my jazz bass (though I pretty much always play the P). And, I could use the multiple EQs to have a sort of two-channel approach, but I'm generally good with getting one good, solid sound to FOH and keep things consistent for their sake. This setup is pretty much intended as an "always on" thing and I like what I'm getting way more than anything I've gotten out of my Tech 21 VT Bass Deluxe...much more organic, tubey, and doesn't have that "disconnected" feeling I get when playing through the Tech 21 stuff. I have found myself backing my tone knob down and therefore losing some definition in the mix, but this pedal chain rounds out the top end a bit and I can leave the tone knob up on my bass. So, I'm getting a much better, natural presence through the PA than just going direct.
So, I really appreciate the whole Jesse Reeves "less is more" aesthetic. This is more of an "always on" pedal setup with the intention of emulating a tube amp sound to FOH. I'm not going for anything overly effected. I've still never quite nailed the sound of my B-15N any other way than just using that amp. But, this is definitely making me happy right now and it's a noticeable improvement over a straight direct sound.
Okay, my pedal setup above definitely achieved the purpose! During rehearsal with a band, I felt more like I was playing an amp. I like that I can really dig in if I want and it will compress a bit more and start to snarl. Nice and fat sound, but definitely more definition and a more pleasing top end than that sterile clanky top end when just using a DI. I had been in the habit of rolling my tone knob off a bit on the bass, but no need to now.
Cool bro. Would be interesting to hear how it sounds. Any sound clips? Except for my boss OD, my TH and M87 stay on all the time. I like them too much. Now I have a Boss GEB-7 on the way, so I can give myself a bass boost in certain songs without having to crouch down and adjust settings on my tone hammer mid song.
Redid my pedalboard. Getting rid of the Behringer briefcase. Too big, bulky, and heavy. It's a good idea but not for me. Picked up a pedaltrain metro 16 today. Still have to wire in the power supply, a cheap Caline iso.
