Anyone else running AbleSet to run Ableton? That's what the iPad in my picture above is running (we don't use charts).

So far, I am really digging it. It's stupid simple, allows for spontaneous re-arranging / "going with the flow," and simplifies the stage setup (the computer running tracks, click, and guide is off stage).

I love RAT distortion, and want to try the Big Booty Judy along with the Blue Colandar Tremond Mini. I specifically like low gain, and RAT and low gain are like polar opposites, so it's possible that neither one is good for me, or that one will shine. I have the Greer Lightspeed, and while not a RAT, it sounds exactly how I want a drive to sound. Maybe I just need to stick with the Greer a bit longer and see if it does what I need and bypass the RAT all together….

I have tried many and passed on the MBD2, Lil Fella, Diabolique, Plumes and BSF that are or seem somewhat ubiquitous/standard here…. Some of the tubey OD sounds ok at low gain but I hate it cranked. Love my Notadumble and my Laney Digbeth when mild but not really when pushed hard. Of all the above, I would have kept the Alchemy BSF if I had been happier with the low end- even with the mod something was missing. I really am wondering if my Nirvana and AIC fanhood has doomed me. I keep looking for the perfect triple
level gain stage setup but can only seem to be happy with one piece at time. Realizing that no one else cares lol…..


ETA: Could be wanting Mike Starrs Spec NS-2 tone on my pbass is the problem lol. "Would" is epic. Of course, "Spoonman" with Ben Shepherds Rat tone is more attainable and probably why the BBJudy is on my radar. Maybe a Locust Star is close? I feel like it is a useable tone for big choruses that don't need to be BMS big.

I went with a bigger board because I was tired of switching pedals out. But, this past Sunday, the LS was the only pedal I used, and I used it on 4 out of the 5 songs.

NickyBass also likes to stack the Greer Southland drive with the Greer Lightspeed.

On the subject of overdrives I have just bought a T-REX Bass Juice and so far am very impressed…to the point that it might now be my favourite overdrive ever. The tone is kind of like an old school creamy distortion and goes from quite a low level of drive to absolute filth. I really love how the boost switch doesn't have an insane volume boost but cranks the gain quite significantly.

someone had one on here years ago for sale that had been signed by maybe Lee or somebody else famous and I almost bought it. Probably the only pedal I've ever been consistently curious about lol

I had also been curious about about this pedal for a long time, literally years. So glad I bought one. They sell quite cheap on the second hand market so it is a cheap gamble to take

Alright, looking to set up an analog preamp bass rig for super small gigs. Typically have a Quad Cortex set up, a Darkglass setup. I've tried the Tone Hammer twice and haven't gotten along it with is. Who's got the Mantle and is genuinely happy with it? I'd be running a few dirt/mod pedals, etc. I was considering the CAPO, but now with the Mantle and also the Laney Digbeth East Preamp, I'm considering other options. Thanks!

If compact is the goal it would be hard to beat out the Capo. You've got a DI, drive, boost, saturation, EQ, and routing options to put mod pedals between preamps.
