Standel - late 60's. Nothing good came of this. Of course I was using an EB0 at the time and that didn't help. At the first opportunity I moved to a Pbass and an Ampeg portaflex and things improved.

I thought those old Standel 2x15 cabs sounded good?

I played an Avatar 1x15 cab that was a house rig at a club that I simply could not get a good sound out of. It sounded like it was covered with a wet blanket, and no amount of EQ would get the blanket off.

Pretty much any cab with a 12" speaker when played by itself. They have no punch and make my bass sound muddy like it has flats. I do like a 112 cab paired with my 210. Nice and punchy from the 10s and a bit more bottom from the 12.[/QUOTE

Have you ever tried the tc electronic RS112? I find it to be a really great sounding cabinet albeit with a somewhat low power rating of only 200 watts. The non-neo co-axial eminence 12 with a eminence horn driver screwed on the speaker magnet give great sizzle to the high end. IMO a damn shame tc got bought out and they quit making those. I also used to own the Genz Benz UBER 212 cab and that thing was killer. If my back wasn't junk I'd still own that cabinet.

Not my experience. Maybe if i had a pbass it wouldn't have sounded so lousy.

My first “big amp”- 1972 Bassman 50
Loaded diagonally with 15’s.

I owned some great Sunn equipment after that, but the Sunn Beta 1-15 at a rehearsal space was not good for my ears-still better than lugging an amp in for rehearsal.

Really? I mean sure the things cheap but they really pile on EQ and stuff, I think one could at least get a usable sound if they fiddle enough. That being said, they don't get loud&deep. But hey, its *40W*.

Tried an Ear Candy before the builder was outed as nuts. It was truly horrible. More of a random size box with whatever tossed in it, no design parameters used or paid attention to. Top of the list for me.

It didn't sound good. He warned me it wouldn't. It didn't.

The Acme Low-B2 in the wrong setting could seem like one of the worst cabs I've ever used.
But in the right setting - if the mix wasn't too loud & dense - and if my bass or amp head had more midrange - it could be the BEST cab I've ever used!
My Low-B1 has been a phenomenal workhorse on smaller jobs; there's just nothing like that Acme low end. I'd love to expand back to 2 10s or more - just maybe not with a [notoriously mid-shy] Fender tone stack for the preamp. (That might have been the real culprit. I've been much happier with Ampeg / Baxandall.)

Back in 1969 ... a Silvertone bass cabinet (!) with six 10" Jensens. The baffle was made of masonite, and the cabinet had an open back.

Back in 1987, a Crate 2x15 something-or-other cabinet which was the only thing I could afford at the time. It was big, heavy, poor power handling and was just weak sauce.
I did a gig that year with another band whose bassist was using a Hartke 210 and the Hartke 210 killed that Crate in every way imaginable.
Lessons learned by a young, broke bass player in the days before the inter webs.

I used to love the Fender sound. But once I moved thru Kustom, Acoustic then Eden I could never again stand the Fender sound.

My least favorite was one of those shallow 215 fender cabs. But it was bad in kind of a fun Mel Schacher-ish way. The only other cab I didn’t get along with was a SLM era Ampeg 410 HLF, but I have a feeling that a HPF and more powerful head (I had an SVT iii at the time) would’ve made it work great.
