Worst bass for metal?

I don't really think there's much of a best OR worst bass for metal.
think about it, there are two main "sounds" for metal - a really clanky, dirty sound, or a really bassey sounds with a lot of muscle behind it. There are a few more, but the fact remains that just about any bass can get at least one of these sounds.

A guitar.
In one of my brothers old high school bands, they had 3 guitarists. So one of them 'tuned down really low' and he was the bass player. Thats right, no note in particular just really low.

I was gonna say that..but then I thought, with so many people doin the "unplugged" thing..you may see some metal folks doin the acoustic thing.

Just plain wrong. And perhaps slightly offensive in a thread that is supposed to give us all a few good laughs.
I used to play metal and went to great lengths to achieve a good sound that wored well in a deep, tight, agressive soundscape. This was a collective process where the bass was by no means a second-rank instrument, though I don't deny that there are some bands who have different priorities.
Again, plain wrong. Many different metal bass sounds out there, many different basses, some more common than others, many different types of metal and different results in terms of sound quality. The above statement amounts to claiming that there is only one type of funk-bass sound. Regrettably, I have heard metalheads state the latter, but that just goes to show that they don't know a lot about a genre that doesn't appeal to them, which is all too normal, I fear.

Besides you can mud up an acoustic with a cheap distortion pedal and make sound just as crappy as any other bass for metal imo.
And please no, we don't need anymore "sub genres" for metal the elitists have enough to argue with people about.
