Would you do it for 60-bucks?

Is it worth it to you?

  • Nope. I can wait.

  • I’d pay an add’l $30 more for 2-day

  • Yes! Next day! Impatience is a virtue!

I wouldn't pay $60 for the next day delivery, unless it's a very small fraction of the instrument cost.
I would pay $30 but not for playing the bass earlier, but to avoid the 1 week tour in the hands of the carrier (in US maybe they're better, in my country most of them are "not so careful")

Depends.
I'm usually not in a hurry, but I did have a vintage bass shipped 2nd-day the week before xmas.
The deal came up quickly, and I didn't want it carrying on over the holiday weekend, as we had plans the following week.

Depending on the value of the bass, the insurance becomes a bigger factor, and the extra $ for quicker shipping becomes less significant.

Would you elaborate more - which carrier / which services? Just curious...
In my experience, both UPS & Fed Ex. It's getting better, but neither will actually guarantee overnight. If you pony up for 2nd or 3rd day, they will definitely expedite your order, but the overnight charge isn't worth the risk (to me anyway) as there is no refund if it doesn't show.

This all started during COVID. I worked for an RV dealer (in parts) that shipped all over the world. We've been watching prices rise & customer service fall ever since.

Time value of money. That 60.00 put in a retirement fund @5.5% for 30.years is 300.00.
It actually cost you 300.00 for that instant gratification. That's a lot of Depends!
In real/constant dollars, $60 invested at 5.5% for 30 years, with an average inflation rate of 4.06% (2023), is actually only worth $94. And that's pretty optimistic, considering the fact that inflation was over 9% in 2022. At an inflation rate of 9.59%, that same 60-bucks is worth $19.95.

I think I'll take the next-day shipping.

This is the rationale that people use as an excuse for not saving money. Saving from a young age has worked pretty well for me. Really none of my business though, it was more of a Depends joke.

Yeah, but that inflation, at whatever level, is going to be there whether you invest or not.;)

I have an electric guitar on its way from Zurich Switzerland. You’d love tracking this one… lol.
I just had a bass shipped from the Czech Republic to Ireland two weeks ago, I must have realistically checked the tracking info at least 80 times, I think the tracker updated twice altogether and then it was just at my front door....very disappointing tracking experience

But a nice surprise.

On a different note- we were just in Ireland last year. We love it there. We were in Belfast, Dublin and Cork, with a day trip to the sweetest little town called Kinsale. I can’t wait to go back.

My favorite thing is when I choose expedited shipping/overnight shipping & when I get the item it says it was shipped from a town 20 minutes away from where I live. I only pay expedited if I know where the item is shipping from.
