would YOU pay $6000 for this bass?

Just in case there was any confusion, anyone who doesn't think Prince is an extraordinary musician hasn't had enough exposure to him or his playing. Dude is a *monster* on both guitar and bass, and many other instruments, as well. :bassist:

For what it's worth, I like the look of these basses a lot more than I like the look of Foderas, and people seem plenty willing to drop $6k on those. I've only played a few Foderas and they sounded very good and played well, but I wouldn't buy one for their looks. I'm not trying to turn this into an "ugly bass" thread, but frankly, I agree with the '50s hot-rod car statement: The red one above is killer, and the black one (on the left) is very posh, just IMO.

I wouldn't. However, I doubt the bass is designed for the recently laid off, job searching, recently middle class but sliding downward daily hobbyist bassist who plays in an amateur band just for fun.

If I had a large enough, secure income, and liked the playability and tone, I would. I think it's pretty difficult to judge those factors from a picture on a computer monitor. It looks cool. I don't actually have any dildos, so I'll have to take of the word of the experts on the appearance of the bass' horns. If I had a huge income, I'd buy it anyway to hang on the wall with all the other cool looking guitars and basses I'd hang on the wall.

My respect for Prince skyrocketed when he played the Super Bowl halftime show in the pouring rain. He acted like he was playing in sunny San Diego. That dude is the ultimate professional. He's an excellent musician, too.

As for the bass ... are you kidding?

And IBTL.

I would not, the cost is way too much for trying something I know nothing about.
by the way, the bass has a really cool looking though..

I couldn't say it better- if you are familiar with a bass such as this and it is want you want/need and the price is right then get it. For only 1000 more you could have one made custom for you so this may not be such a great deal. Better than waiting 6 months though:bassist:

Its not that I'm appose to paying 6000 for a bass that sounds amazing and feels perfect to play. IMO you can't put a price on that. But at the same with that amount of money I could go buy a bass that not only plays, feels, and sounds perfect but also looks good. Like an F Bass or a Pedulla, not something that looks like it was stolen from an episode of The Jetsons. :bassist:
