Would you pull the trigger on this 1959 P-Bass?

If so, it pretty funny, or deceiving, that there is no full size pic of the bass with the pickguard off. Almost like they try to hide it but still have it in the details so to cover themselves.
There's a joke about pulling knobs in there somewhere, but I won't touch that... literally or figuratively...
Get an original ‘66 for that price.

looks like the underside of the pickup which is still attached to the grounding plate.
If I were looking for an only lightly used looking vintage instrument I would be prepared to pay the going rate. And it could easily go for a lot more... this one is mintier but it's not anywhere near "near mint", and they want $16.5k.

Sounds too good to be true, and too pricey. You could buy several premium basses for that amount.
Unless it is for nostalgic or financial gain reasons, I would not spend that much on this bass.
If it were for purely sonic reasons, there are soooo many choices of equal or better quality at 1/2 the cost or less.

Not so sure if I agree with this.
I don't know enough about this stuff to make an informed decision, but if George Gruhn told me I'd be an idiot to let an instrument get away at $xxxx, I'd probably buy it right then and there.

On this instrument, I trust the people who have weighed in. Sounds like there's a lot to be careful about on this one.
So why aren't you asking George Gruhn instead of a bunch of strangers on the internet?!
That’s definitely not a fender finish, the pickups are wrong (look at the pole pieces, they’re even) for that era, the pick guard has no signs of aging or coloration in the bright white sections, the string tree is incorrect and there doesn’t appear to be any heel markings on the neck from this angle. Even a refin of age would still have visible checking if it had period accurate laquer. Then look at the logo, it’s silk screened. That wasn’t happening in 59. The bridge saddles are incorrect as well.
