Wrap My SX

I vote for having the neck pick-up cover on, but not the bridge cover. How would that be?

My SX (and vote) is the opposite. Bridge ashtray on for bling and neck cover off so you can actually play it. (though it does look good too).

I see a bit of the seam as the top and back wrap over lap, but it still looks great. And it's interesting that it can be changed or even go back to the original!

And let me add that drum wraps do not seem to affect tone. In fact your process would be KILLER for drums too. You could put anything you wanted on them. Plus, they would be MUCH easier to wrap being simple cylinders. Even cooler you could have the guitars, bass, and drums in a band all have the same (far-out) wrap limited only by what can be put in a digital image! How cool is that? I think you are onto something here!

Hey! I don't need a Lego bass, I only need a PICTURE of Legos!

brokencode - I'm guessing your sign biz is doing well already, but I also think you could be sitting on a gold mine with this technique applied to guitars/basses/etc, should you decide to go that route. You've garnered several fans/potential customers just in this thread alone...

Yes, you see the seam. We just jumped into this and didn't think it through. Next wrap will be done with the seam on the back like cabs are covered. Also, more thought into the design/graphics so the seam will blend better.

There's tons of hi-res photos of Legos out there, cool idea!

Wow... awesome idea!!! I've covered many drum heads but never the drums. How cool. I digital print drum heads to match the banners I make for bands.

I wanted to update wrapping my SX. I have learned allot so far of what I will do differently next wrap. I'll be wrapping this one again during the Christmas holidays. Removing the vinyl will be no problem at all. If there is adhesive left on the body, I have a safe product to remove it. Here are some things I'll change.

Make the seams in the back instead of the middle of the body side.
Use a liquid laminate, I found a product called Frog Juice that will work. I only laminated the back with a film laminate on this wrap.

I should have most of the bugs worked out by then end of the year. My designer is already working on a new design. Do y'all see anything I need to improve on?

What you could do with the pickguard, is just print a second copy of your main design, and line it up, so the pickguard is there, but not interfering with the design (as is though, it looked great!). It would take a little more patience, but you could do it easily enough.

And yeah, Frog Juice is good stuff. The five years I spent lettering vehicles and painting signs usually had a thing of Frog Juice nearby for anything and everything.
