I find it interesting that so many people see the fretboard and think it (literally, apparently) looks like poopie, puke, something infected, something toxic, etc.

Whereas I look at it and it looks like tree bark. The dark part is the outer bark, the light park is the inner bark. So, the effect makes quite a lot of sense to me.

One thing is certain, it definitely looks like something you'd expect to find in Clod's Dirty Shed.

Looks like he Defretted to make fretless, then changed his mind & tried gluing back the frets & cover his mistakes with glue!

Try to look around the back of the neck and not “at” it.
It’s placed gently in a bed of aged pine needles, alluding to both the esthetics of seasoned wood and the propensity for instant flammability under proper conditions

after further inspection I realized the whole bass was placed upon a bed of hay…
Doesn’t change anything tho

I think he stripped the finish from between the frets and redid those areas to make it look used.
